Title: Wheel bolt query.

 8-)Hi, have had a problem with my genuine Vauxhall security wheel bolts/locknuts can anyone recommend a good quality alternative, as i have just spent £500.00+ on 4 news Michelins standard alloys on a 2002 2.6 CDX.My ones on the Merc are far superior to the Vauxhall type.

just bin them, use standard bolts. No one wants Vauxhall alloys, the only desirable ones are Snowflakes, but they were never fitted as standard  :y

 ::)Not really the wheels i am worried about there has been a lot of cars just stolen for their tyres due to the rise in prices/recession, several in one night not far from me mostly large saloons/4x4s just want to hold on to mine & make it a bit harder for them already binned the Vauxhall ones.

well if they're taking the whole car it's not going to make a difference really, invest in a decent alarm and have a good insurance policy!!

I've seen far too many knackered locking nuts to be a fan of ANY type of them. All it takes is one gorilla with a nut gun, and you're looking at a lot of swearing from your mechanic to get  the bloody things off!

And lets not forget the idiots who take the keys  out of the car "so that they're safe". Safe, and utterly useless when they get a puncture.

What was the problem with the original ones?

A new set from VX is cheap enough if the old ones are worn/busted. :y

I had a set of mcguard once, and never again.

when the outer snapper, I had no choice but to drill the git.

 8-)Yes similar problem with the Vauxhall ones, i always remove & refit the security bolts myself however the previous owner had probably had " the gorilla" at the tyre shop use the gun on them & they were totally shot ,had to use a large socket & very long lever to remove them my Subaru & Merc have a much better quality type with grooved chrome top, these are no trouble at all tried e-bay but they are mc guard & look similar to Vauxhalls poor quality type no doubt some will turn up eventually.

hate to say this but ford escort ones fit and are far better quality!!!! ;D just make sure yoiu get the length right!! as standard they are a little to long nothing a caht with a grinder cant sort though which is what i did!!
