Thorens TD 320 MK III
« on: 26 February 2018, 17:44:22 »

Found a very nice classic turntable. A Thorens TD 320 MK III. 30 years old.

Not unusual....

BUT THE TABLE IS BRAND NEW IN HIS ORIGINAL BOX. NEVER USED!

The price was unbelievable low. The TD 320 comes with a Stanton epoch II cartridge, factory assembling...

I am happy....

Nice to hear from you again Rolf, how are things at your end? Looks a good buy, can,t beat the old heavy platters for good sound reproduction. :y

Hi Lizzy

What is your story about Thorens? Mine is very special long....

Hi ronnyd

I am a little splitted these days. There are still serious problems with my wife's health. She is home again, but not in stable condition. I do my very best to help her in any way, but sometimes it is a very hard job for both of us.

The other side looks brighter. The last months gave me some commercial success, so i can think about some private investigations. A classic Thorens, a own garage (better two) and a MV6. Regarding the MV6 i think the Vauxhalls are very interesting, because of the prices in UK. I prefer an early model (late 93/ early 94) because I decided to get a H (historic) licence as soon as possible. A late 93 MV6 is able to get a German H-licence in autumn 2023. So, maybe i need some assistance later this year. I never bought a car in the UK....

Yep, sadly, as most things now, Thorens Decks are worth more in Spare Parts than whole, so there getting a bit thin on the ground these days.  :'(

I did the set up of the turntable yesterday and i was very surprised that the 30 year old belt works perfect. But there was a little noise from the motor bearings. But i knew the Berger motors...they are undestroyable. So i decided to start a 12h burn in run to remove the dust of the years. The turntable is now running absolutely calm. Also everything else runs perfect.

If it weren't for the fuss and inconvenience, not to mention the hiss and pops, I would play some of my old vinyl via a Shure V15 III cartride and Lencolean wet cleaner.....

I'll bear that in mind Rolf, have a few bits (not many) Ive kept myself, including a Brand New Arm and a Couple of Heads and Cartridges, including some Moving Coil ones and Transformers, probably any parts I may actually need I may not have anymore.

Hi Bigron

A good equipment does not produce any noise in the background. The best product i ever used to clean records is the Lorrycraft machine from England. Thanx to Terry and Nigel
