Hi Chaps,

Having upgraded from my 2.0 LPG'd Omega to a 2.6 MV6 I am beginning to feel the pain of petrol prices once again!  So my plan to get around this is to install another LPG system into my new MV6 ASAP!  I don’t plan to get a garage to do this as it would only add a great deal to the cost of the system, plus I wouldn’t like anyone else to start tinkering with my unspoilt MV6!!

I plan to DIY the kit myself.  This installation will be my second install and thus I should have a slight advantage, although have never worked on a V6 before.  I like a good challenge...

I will buy the kit from a company called Micromise in Essex, who are currently launching on eBay as an eBay store.  This is the same company I bought my last kit from and judging by the problems other LPG’s Omega’s have been experiencing, I am sticking to this company as the kit in my old car has been perfect, with no problems whatsoever!  No running problems, no emissions errors....

The kit’s are £800 all in, delivery too!  Might be slightly less for a 4 pot?  I know it's possible to save a few quid on a cheaper version, although the support from Micromise is 2nd to none!  The chap who runs the show provided me with no end of advice during my first installation.  This coupled with help from this forum made my life so much easier!

So I have started this thread as a starting point for my LPG project, project LP6.

I hope that this thread will help others with the same ‘money saving’ ideas, not to mention I will be giving something back to the forum in return for all the invaluable help and advice I have received so far.

Good luck with your install, I will follow this thread both with interest and with a view to doing the same on my car.  Martin, what do you think of these kits?  Does this company offer a certification service for DIY installs?

New company (Rail SPA) doing the injectors (OMVL style but repairable), ECU looks like an AEB family one.

Anyway try it and see.

Question for Mark DTM

While the inlet manifold is off is it worth replacing the oil cooler/heater and the thermostat?

I am guessing two banks of three with nozzles fitted into the manifold.

The adverts state they certificate.

As to the kit I don't know - it is worth a try however. Similar costs - perhaps slightly cheaper than a Romano system (also uses AEB electronics).

Problems well there was the mixer system which was bodged, there was James second hand OMVL with a knackered injector, TDs 2.2 had a clogged air filter, mine suffered in the winter due to low coolant temperature.

Paul M does have a hot water supply issue and is thinking of changing his evaporator supply to the V6 standard.

Issunaz mixer system seems fine.

And the seqeuntial system on our project V6 is desigend for a 4 pot....with two additional injectors wired in parralel with two of the others....

Yes the chap at Micromise if LPGA certified.

I drove my first project car to Essex to have it certified.  It cost me £100, although he did help me with the last part of the job too.  I wasn’t too sure of the pipe config near the tank.  Being as the LPG gas I heavier that plain air, I needed to drop the pipes through the floor and back up again.  This took a few hours, so I can only estimate that £50 for the help and £50 for the certificate.  Not bad really!  I guess that this time i will complete the job 100%, then i'll have £50 to pay for the certificate.

Right now onto step 2!

Remove plenum and inlet manifold.

Install gas injector straws into the manifold.

Clean plenum, manifold, breather system and replace cam seals before reassembly.

Mount gas injectors and attach rubber pipes.

i'll post up some good pics as i do it!

Update for stage 2...
All work carried out on Sunday went to plan with little problems encountered, other than needing a new thumb, thumb nail and middle finger knuckle, Ouch!

Work carried out for the LP6 project was bundled in with other maintenance work which should have been done the day I got the car, although only got change yesterday.

1 - Remove and install new rocker seals.
2 – Oil, oil filter, plugs and air filter change.
3 – Cleaned breather system as per Ronald’s how2  forum post (thanks!)  Not too sure if I did enough as the breathers were pretty clear anyway!
3 – Drill and tap inlet manifold for the installation of gas injector straws.  Managed to locate them very close to the petrol injectors as you can see in the pics.  Left other end of rubber hose blanked off ready for the injector installation.

That's it for stage 2.  As for stage 3... Not too sure about that as yet.  Might wait until my knuckle grows back!

Are those injectors going to squirt at the valve or the plastic inlet manifold....they look a bit to far from the port to me.....

By the way, I have found my trade card again.....

Same direction as the petrol ones.  It's hard to see in the photo, but they are inside the rubber gasket and pointing very slightly towards the center!   I used the stain inside the gasket seal as a guide.  I hope it's good enough as i'll be buying another inlet manifold otherwise!
