Omega General Help / Re: AC clutch removal how?
« on: 24 May 2017, 12:36:59 »
When I put it on Auto everything starts as they should, car revs up  a little and both fans start in the front. Only thing that is not getting power is the compressor. The system is properly filled.

What could be the cause if I'm not getting any power on the plug to the compressor? I know the clutch is broken as I tried with direct power to it with no luck but I'm not getting any power on the plug either.

Yep, standard Harrison compressor from memory, the only issue is the threads being imperial (if the grey cells are working ok!)

Yeah I figured it was some imperial crap so I took the part from a pump of some sorts I have laying around from an old firetruck and lucky me it had the correct thread on it and just the right size hole on the side so I could tap a M10 thread in it.

Buy the time you've bought, all the tools needed, found a supplier for all the deals, it's cheaper to buy a reconditiond one,  for about £150.

I made the only tool I need from the bits I had laying around in garage and got everything apart, posting pics later..

Whole point of this was to see how you take it apart with my spare compressor and to take parts for the one in my car so I don't have to refill the system AGAIN as I just did it today and that is how I found out the clutch doesn't work on my current compressor... What a bit of luck that I happened to put the broken compressor in the car and left the working one off...

EDIT:
Pic time!

Few pics of the tool:

Threads on the inside are the only part I had to make on this tool, it is some piece for plumbing or something I think.

With the clutch pulled off:

Everything I need off:

Not tried it, as the repair kits here are more expensive than a known good compressor

If you find a way, feel free to do a guide :y

Yeah think it needs a puller for it, a special one. Gotta find out what the outer thread is on it and make one myself, drill a hole in the bolt and make threads on it, bolt it on and tighten the inner bolt and off it should comr, hopefully allowing me to clean it to get the clutch working again.

Omega General Help / O2 Sensor which side is 1 and 2?
« on: 23 May 2017, 06:33:11 »
Title.

Does it matter which plug is in which? I would assume because it adjust each fuel bank seperately with each lambda right?
I might have the connectors mixed up.

Check throttle cable has not slack first :)

Yeah thats what I came up with too with a quick google search, didn't know it was part of the throttle cable, assumed it was one of the connectors on the tranny.

What causes this? How does the kickdown work on these cars? I get no voltage on kickdown at all so the error is persistent.

Weird thing is that it seems to kickdown just fine...

Omega General Help / Re: V6 Cambelt trouble aligning

It is really easy to do even without tools.
No, its **IMPOSSIBLE** to do the Omega V6 correctly without the correct locking timing kit.  Absolutely impossible.

You should be able to get it good enough to run, but not correctly.

Why? Done it atleast 5 times already and it's correct every single time somehow, must be a miracle or just pure luck.

Wow. it feels like people are from 'murica here.

With some common sense and Autodata, it is impossible to do it wrong really and damage anything.

I was skeptical too at first cause everyone seems to praise like it's the word of god that you can't do it without tools but that is obviously not true and it isn't even hard without.

If the tool is bad then just do it without.

You can get the cams lined up without any tools easily, then turn the crank about one tooth anti-clockwise, when you set the tensioner right it is gonna turn the cams that way a little so then you turn the crank mark to align, everything else will align with it and you will have the timing set right.

It is really easy to do even without tools.

Omega General Help / Re: Cam sensor

Or you unplugged the knock sensor ;)

Cam sensor is on the left side bank on top of the cam in the front right?
And knock sensors are on each side of the block hidden really well almost inaccessible?

Have changed two 3.2 sensors... V6 ones are pretty reliable with their codes. If it says cam sensor, then cam sensor it is ;)

Unlike the random dead gearbox codes that the Desmond throws out :D

But the Cam sensor shouldn't cause it to die I think? It should still run with the light on?

Maybe the sensor wire is too close to the exhaust and got damaged? It does have insulation at the bottom end but not the whole way.
