Omega General Help / Re: Modified the steering idle arm

Im also interested in the bearing sizes and everything else you made/modified.

Edit: i just checked and they sell premade kits for this swap for old chevys and even my 68 Satellite, probably a wortwhile conversion.

Aren't those a bit upside down? I'm pretty sure mine is the opposite, the two fans in the front are always on if AC is on and the engine side fan turns on only when the engine is actually hot.

Steinmetz springs manufactured by Eibach and I believe the Eibach badged product is the same spec

That is what I came up with aswell after some research.

These are the ones that were under my car, BTS Performance. The rear shocks are unbeliavably stiff compared to the Sachs ones, like REALLY stiff, makes you sweat trying to press them in between your hands.
And these front shocks had the top nut/bolt at the bottom end with adjustment, the other kit doesn't.

To my surprise, that Steinmetz kit from the other car is pretty much stock height now which isn't that bad afterall. Must be just stiffer springs and stock height or something.

That would explain the ride height ;)

Standard spring probably sits 25-30 higher... ATP Pollarth have just started a sale... Should be able to get stock height springs for a sensible cost ;)

These are from the spare car that sits higher than the one I drive and I will put these on the one I drive to get it a bit higher but not too much.

This is what I found under my spare car, seems in good shape all around but cant find any info on the actual springs with that number? Buy Steinmetz is a good thing right?
Shocks were some Sachs Super Touring ones.

Just checked the car and it is MOTd for 320mm front and 310mm back which is 1cm lower than it currently sits lol. Those are to center of wheel hub.

The front of my car came up nearly 30mm when I fitted new stock spec springs. The 17 year old originals had sagged that much. The ride and handling improved too.

Yeah I'm after something a little lower than that but higher than it currently is as the stock ride height makes it look like an offroader really  ;D

I don't have an Omega to measure, but that sounds a touch low :-\

Its bearable, clears all the speedhumps around here is ok but I'm swapping another set to my car to make it a tad higher and selling this one to a friend who appreciates it more.

675mm ish to the centre of the wheelarch iirc... Same front and rear  :y

From ground I presume? For some reason the finnish equilevant of MOT seems to measure it center of the wheel to the wheel arch.

EDIT: 630mm from the ground for the one I drive.

How high is it? Just trying to figure out how much the cars I have are lowered or have lowered by themselves over time.

Working AC really makes the sunroof pointless.

Actually, they complement each other.

How? All it does is vent out your cool air so its hotter again and ac has to run full blast.

here's what the manual says:

"The electronic air conditioning system
functions most efficiently when the
windows and sun roof are closed . If the
passenger compartment has heated up
considerably after a long period in direct
sunlight, briefly open the windows and sun
roof so that the heated air can quickly
escape."

Thank you.

Cold air sinks...

Yes it does but I doubt it will do much compared to how much air is going out through the sunroof. But I will definitely try this when I'm home, out of pure curiosity as I never thought of it but I really doubt there is any benefit to using sunroof with AC on.

Who said or implied there was?
I don't feel any need for A/C when the temperature is below 20C as that's what I set it to.

Zero logic right there, somehow you are implying that the car stays at sub-20C on the inside of it is sub-20C on the outside, total 'dangle berries'.
Also AC has way more use than just cooling it down, 80% humidity or something like that at 20C outside is awful, and that is where the AC really helps.
