Hello! Long time no updates and that's because engine blew again in 2019 summer, head gasket went kaboom again in after just 50tkm and 4 years since last repair.
I sold the car for enthuastic person as hg failured, I haven't seen the car since like 2020 summer, but I hope it's okay nowadays.

Maybe some of you remember that this topics picture links were broken, but I took some time and with massive help of Jimbob we fixed the links so the pictures are shown again for good memories! :)

I can't say that Omegas are gone forever from my garage but just now only thing left from Omega times are the wheeeels! and here is some pictures what I did with them :)

Bought replacement car in 2019 and turned it into nice looking vec with Omega wheels  :y
Might have done something else also if you can spot some differences with the pictures  ;D

It was from Astrax Oy. He's selling lots of OEM stuff.

Not sure if he's selling in other countries than Finland.

Heads were skimmed, gaskets at least should've been quality ones. Only thing that I could have done better was the block, that was only cleaned but not skimmed or something like that.

If I'm still going to fix this car the engine is coming off from the car and it will get full rebuild. But I got zero motivation at the moment.....
Really don't know what to do...

Hey, Same car, same gasket but slightly different leakage.....

Okay, so it seems that 4 years and 50tkm will do the trick to blow head gasket.... Still can't believe this.

Cylinder number 6 is losing pressure to the coolant system.
I did a leak down test and its bubbling into expansion tank. Also from the spark plug can be seen that there has been red glycol.

Is there another possible explanation than HG failure?

I made a holding bracket out of an aluminium piece and it has lasted for over 2 years AND I live in Finland as you may know we have pretty bad weather from time to time  :P

Updates, since early 2018-->

New garage. 2018 spring.

4-wheel alignment. Done these very often.

2018 Summer pics. Also Breather system vol.1. And bilsteins!

It was time for another wheel arch. Rust off.

Summer tires used to the last bit.

New winter tyres, Kumho 215/55 16.

Winter pic from garage.

The old Simons's sheet metal exhaust broke completely.
Build a cheap straight pipe :D
That wasn't so nice on the long drives so bought Simons's roster exhaust.

Also went to try 1-mile with the omega--> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6z1Pvaat4KU

I have always been very careful with revving engine before fully warmed up, it seems now that even when the thermostat opens it isn't warm enough.

I suspect that the lifters are making the noise just before engine warming up properly. After long highway run there isn't any noise.

Hello,

3.0 litre Omega has developed this metallic rattling noice above 5000rpms. Oil changed at every 5 000-10 000km or after one year. 262 000km driven. Head gaskets changed at 220 000km and the heads were cleaned but not lifters. Lifters doesn't rattle even when started from -20degrees. Gearbox is fine and she has all the power she ever got.

Lifters or bearings or something else?

In two months it has been 4 years since last cambelt change, and at the moment 42 000 km with that belt, so there is a service coming anyway.

Changed the alternator, old was Bosch 120A and new was re-manufactured by Elstock, there were no other brand or specification markings.

Haven't tried before but I tried now to put all the electrics on and it showed 14.1 volts. Idle just headlamps on 14.4 volts. Sounds normal?
No funny illuminating anywhere anymore.

It took 2 hours, it was very fast, right?  ;D

Edit 1. Also the battery was checked before changing the alternator and it showed some value "490" mechanic said that it could be near "600". Can't tell what that value means. But no need for new battery yet.

This goes for next year project list as I can't find time just now, happily Omega will be in warm garage waiting for love  :y

I fixed those wirings from back in March, but surely can't say for 100% that they are still ok. -> https://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=140951

I'll get back to you after checking those wires from back and battery ground.

Hey,

it seems that my Omega likes Christmas a bit too much  :-\

Month ago started to notice the alternator light illuminating very dimly, voltage 14,4.
Week ago started to notice the hazard flash button started to blink with the indicator, voltage 14,2.
Now today seat heater, rear window heater and that red light(alarm button) started to illuminate dimly too, voltage 14.

My local battery seller can order me 100A or 120A alternator and told to check which one is it (I would need to take it to hand before seeing which one is it....), is there possibility that the alternator can be either one? I believe it is 120A?

And also could the problem be elsewhere?

Car is 1999, X30XE.

Hey this is from Insignia service book, anyone got idea what has been done at this point? In the bottom it says "Motortausch dich... " or so.
Could it mean that the engine has been swapped?

Engine is A20NHT.
