They're the recommended tyre for one marque specific forum I frequent .. so I don't believe they are shite. Planning on putting them on her indoorses car when the time comes*

*when I can persuade her that she really needs new tyres that aren't TDFs, so that I don't have to pay for them.

Pretty sure its Renault diagnostics only but will enquire further. Resident expert on the Renault forum warns strongly against buying used ones with high expectations of being able to programme them to the engine. He says its pot luck and theres a good chance it wont work.
My thoughts at the moment are to ignore his advice, buy one for £40 and hope for the best.
After that ? buy a box of swan vestas might be the wise option.

It wont be and it cant be.

such activities have to be achievable on generic equipment

Generic being the likes of Snap-off and the other stuff aimed at businesses, rather than simpler code readers, presumably?

That's good to know thanks. Henry, can you just up to north Essex when you've had your lunch please ?
I was actually given a brand new injector from a 1.5dci Renault, of unknown year, by my friendly local garage. I fitted it and the car started and ran, albeit as rough as a badges arse. It had completely different numbers to mine so I wasn't surprised.
I have now ordered one from fleabay with the same part number as mine which came from a clit, the same year as mine.
Hopefully it will just need coding in to finish the job off.

Yes, the details of the DIDs etc needed to execute the internal routines have to be made available to the outside world OR utilise the generic ones.

Hence a decent aftermarket tool will have had it included  :y
