Thanks for that,i will just ignore it then.Incidentally the spare battery i charged last night was 12.66 its now 12.42,is it still ok.I seam to be having more problems with this car lately, what with the coolant leak and now battery. When i got back from sereks i knew i needed new plug leads, but i did not have the time to let him do them.I did not bank on the coolant leak, and as i am now unemployed(again)funds are tight.I was hoping for 12 months problem free(but i do own an omega) ;D.BTW is 13.14 from the alt good enough, i am also going to put some dye in the header tank.Hopefully its a hose or pipe but as others have said may be hard to spot. Thanks for the reply's always appreciated :y.Dean.

Omega General Help / Little light on battery.
« on: 02 August 2018, 18:33:19 »
Hi all,is the little eye light on the battery accurate(ie green ok,black recharge, white change)The reason i ask is the car has been sitting for a while, and the indicator was white(replace). The voltage was 12.20 but the car started and i went to halfords and had it checked, they said its a good battery.I charged a spare battery(light was black)after a full charge got 12.66 but it was still black,i now have the original battery off the car and i am charging it.So my question is should the light go green again when fully charged, also the voltage on idle is 13.14 coming from the alternator that's not good is it. :-\ :-[ :( .Dean.

What is hardly any and what temp was the coolant? The level depends on temp.
Hi mate, temp gauge said 95 and the small takeaway tub i put under it the coolant did not even cover the bottom. It seams its not losing coolant when stationary and engine running.Dean.

Dean is this the car you are intending to fit a new rad to ?  if so  . . .

I continued to use my 2.6 for several months with a very small leak like yours. Obviously got to keep an eye on the header tank. Getting stuck in long traffic jams in this hot weather could be an issue.

BUT . . . . if yours is now all of a sudden  acting differently as in changing  temp  gauge readings . . .IMO you may need to keep a even more  closer eye on what is going on .   ;)
Hi mate, the thing is i am not entirely sure its the rad.Even after taking the covers off i cant see exactly where the leak is,could be a split hose or something. :-\ .Dean.

This sounds like normal fluctuations.I would not expect a tiny leak to cause a problem unless the heady tank runs low.
I did 30 mile yesterday and the temp gauge went up and down, checked header tank hardly any drop in level.Put a small bowl under the leak next to nothing in it.Dean.

Omega General Help / Quick Question.
« on: 29 July 2018, 18:20:02 »
Hi all, would a small coolant leak cause fluctuations in running temp.Car used to run at 92 now runs between 92 and 98,i don't have the funds at the moment to get it sorted.Fan kicks in to cool it down and the coolant loss is tiny, but i need to use the car. :-\ :(. Dean.

Hi all, just been out to the car small 6 inch damp patch under where the leak is.A small drop in coolant in the expansion tank, until serek fits a new rad i will just have to monitor it.Dean.

Because the water is circulating rather than backed up behind the water pump and thermostat  :y
Hi DG,so while it is running i am not loosing any coolant so should be good to use the car.So long as i keep checking the coolant level,is that right mate.Dean.

Hi all,a quick update.Took the car out tonight 20 mile run came back home, and parked up.With the engine running no smoke or steam and no coolant dripping on the floor. However with the engine off coolant is dripping from around the rad drain plug area,on the right(can't see exactly where from). But it dripping through a hole in the middle of what looks like some kind of chassis plate, below and to the right of the drain plug.As i say i can't pinpoint exactly where the leak is,but at least i have found the area.Anyone have any ideas where it might becoming from, also why is it not leaking when running but leaking when off. :-\ :(. Dean.

Without going out in the cold to look (still got man flu), I think the clip is a standard "Spire" clip, available on ebay for pennies?
Example: Item Number 192318095864

Ron.
Hi Bigron, you are correct available on ebay.I would like to buy the clip and the bolt/screw, but i don't have a clue what size to order.Does anyone know the size please.Dean.

You can get a new radiator for around £45-50, but if a garage is doing the work expect them to want to supply it. Which means it will probably be north of £200 by the time it's fitted :(
Hi DG hope your well,if its rad i was hoping Serek can supply and fit,but £200 wow.Dean.
