Omega General Help / V6 thermostat seal to tube
« on: 04 December 2011, 19:21:37 »
hiya,
installed a 3L V6 and have noticed the tube that comes off the thermostat housing is very loose, is it just a case of renewing the O ring seal and bolting it to the head? if so wheres the best place to buy the seal?
many thanks

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / sound distorted
« on: 29 September 2008, 18:24:12 »
hiya all,
a couple of times a day the speakers become distorted like they are on full blast ,, i thought it was the stereo unit so i changed it but same prob,, i`ve put the old unit back in,, if i go over a bump or slam the boot it will either get worse or better,, when the sound goes funny i go to select rear speakers and they have gone off,,
i`m thinking maybe the problem lays with the rears,, before i replace them as anyone encontered this problem before????
 many thanks.
ps its a 96 elite with a muti change cd in boot and the unit is a philips but as i said the problem happened with a new unit also.

Omega General Help / Re: Is this mpg right 2.2 dti
« on: 02 November 2010, 20:44:42 »
i`m getting about 39mpg out of my 2.2 dti omega, thats about half and half m/way and rush hour traffic, if cruise at 70mph i get high 40s, i had a 2.2dti vectra and that was very good on fuel and alot faster, was easly getting 43mpg with the same style driving i`m doing now but the vectra was lighter and that must of made a big difference but i did except better from the omega. gear ratios and front wheel drive probably play a part as well.
i had a 3L elite as my 1st miggy and what a fantastic car that was, i cudnt make my mind up between a lpg V6 or a dti but the  previous vectra made my mind up but wish i would of gone for the lpg

Omega General Help / Re: Crankshaft pulley!
« on: 02 February 2011, 16:38:06 »
hiya,
the crank pulley broke on my 2.2 dti, i didnt want to chance a 2nd one in case that broke aswell, got a brand new one from a vauxhall suppliers, it cost about £80, i`ll try and find the address and get back to you, i rang up and they sent it next day i think, i ordered a bolt aswell and i also replaced the oil seal which i got from vauxhall, the biggest problem i had was undoing the bolt, its very very tight, broke 2 wrenches.
after i did the job i noticed a noise and a vibration so i ended up putting a new belt and tensioner on, job done and everything been fine and that was 18months ago.

i cant see i seal making that noise but i changed it for piece of mind, it took me ages to just undo the crank bolt, snapped 2 ratchets it the process, its not that hard to take the belt off and run the engine and have a listen, a couple of lights may pop up on the dash but as soon as you put the belt back on they will go out

the crank pulley on my dti fell off!!!
put a new one and crank seal on and it was making a terrible noise and vibrating so put new belt on and same so then put new tensioner on and that did the trick.
i see you have already put 2 tensioners on tho, did you try running the car with the belt off , just stationary? it may be that the noise isnt coming from the belt at all,

Omega General Help / Re: master brake cylinder seals
« on: 06 January 2011, 18:32:02 »
so do you reckon a 2nd hand unit of any facelift will be the same???
only reason i was gona change the seals is because my brake pedal creeps down if i keep pressure on it, no fluid leaks so assumed it was getting past the seals

Omega General Help / master brake cylinder seals
« on: 05 January 2011, 18:37:49 »
hiya
as anyone replaced the seals on the master brake cylinder? if so how easy of a job is it ?
anybody know how many different master brake cylinders there are? do some models share the same or does it depend on engine size or year?
i`ve done this job  a few times on older vauxhalls and range rovers and i`m thinking it should be the same.
my car is a 2.2 dti
many thanks Paul

Omega General Help / heater warm at front very cold at back
« on: 25 November 2010, 17:58:15 »
hiya, i asked this question last year but never really got it sorted, but its getting very cold now so need to keep my rear passengers warm.
in the front of the car the heater works fine and gets warm but it blows cold air in the rear of the cabin, i remember doing some kind of reset to the heater control but that didn't work.
i`d be thankful with some help it sorting this .
 cheers
