forgot to mention when pressing key fob or dash button i could hear the solenoid kicking in very very faintly.
once you have managed to open the boot press the plunger button  at the side of the lock and press the boot release button and if it was just loose like mine you will hear the solenoid activate.

As the owner of a 2.6CDX Omega (52) reg is there a way of opening the rear boot lid when  the key fob remote does not work nor does the release button on the bottom right of the stereo unit.   [smiley=sad.gif]
mine did this and i had to open it using the manual release, after checking the the catch i found that it was very loose so tightened it and works every time now, just thought.

what is the best way to remove the chrome lettering without damaging the paint work plus whats the best thing to use to stick  my CDX letters on.

Are there any special procedures to be followed for bleeding the fuel system on my 2.2 HDI following a fuel filter change. The hand book suggests there is a 'complicated procedure' if you run out of diesel. Does this apply to a filter change and if so is it a DIY job or are special tools reqd? Thanks Ian.
hioya ,
i changed my fuel filter the other week,, i found it very tricky to get to, had to remove the air pipes to the turbo and even then was dodgy, vauxhall seem to have modified the filter a little, but it still fits if you use the new sealing rubbers, undo the torx bolt on top and move it to the side drain the fuel if you can ( this should be done by undoing the drain screw if you can get to it) if possible try and have some diesel or injector cleaner in the filter housing before you try and start the car.
the biggest headache is trying to start the car because there is no primer to fill the filter housing up, it can take several minutes to get the engine to fire up, i cranked in  10 second  blasts and when it does start just rev it until all the air is out,,
hope thei helps.

Omega General Help / Re: Omega 3.0 Elite Rear Springs
« on: 23 March 2010, 17:04:02 »
snap!!!!!!!!!!!!! my 2.2 dti cdx failed the MOT last week on same thing, it had been broke for a while judging how rusty the snapped area was, money is tight at the moment got one off  ebay for £28 delivered, ordered it sunday it arrived today, going to fit it this week and get MOT, only changing the one as the car ran ok with a broken one, normally tho i would change suspension parts in pairs

Thanks guys,

I have not noticed my car having self-levelling suspension? How would I find out?

Vauxhall quoted £300 +VAT for two rear springs!

Cheers

Is there a haynes for anything that has the 2.2dti in it?

the 2.2dti doesnt have a fuel pump just an injector pump which is driven by the engine turning, so you have got to crank the engine to pump the fuel , i`ve changed fuel filters on both the vectra and omega 2.2 dti and each time had to crank engine for ages to get it to start,
i know years ago to get a diesel to start i`ve sprayed easy start into the air intake and that would get it to fire up, not sure if its the right thing to do with modern diesel engines tho.

just one more thing to add to the list, my crank pulley split and fell off ( separated from the rubber bonded to the inner)
i`m not sure how you would check for that but i also noticed the auto tensioner for the alternator belt was worn and maybe that was a factor.

i`ve had the vectra 2.2dti and now own the omega 2.2dti, i found the engine in the vectra to be very good indeed, fantastic pulling power and very good mpg,, it had the best service history i have every seen (having a new diesel pump fitted at a cost of around £2550!!!!!!) and you could really tell it had been looked after, i changed all the filters on it and even tho it was running great it ran even better, it really felt like it had another 15bhp,
my omega tho had no history at all and very lack lusture,, the turbo needs replacing as its leaking oil and the blades are smashed, changing the filters as improved it somewhat and hope after i change the turbo it will pull stronger.
so the 2 things i`d look for are service history and as the diesel pump been changed.
 hope this help./
ps in the vectra i got average of 42mpg mixed driving
get 38mpg from the omega at mo but hope that will improve when fittted new parts

Omega General Help / Re: Engine management light ON/OFF 2.2dti
« on: 26 February 2010, 15:14:49 »
my 2.2 dti did something very simaliar,
bad to start on cold days and after a couple of seconds after car as started the EML comes back on and only went off after the car was revd hard of driven hundred yards
i replaced all 4 glows plugs at weekend, tested the old ones and found that only one was working,
now the car starts up on 1st turn of key after the glow plug goes out and the EML light stays of, i read somewhere that the glow plugs stay on for a while after the engine as started and the ecu detects a fault if even one of the plugs isnt getting hot.
 any hope this helps

Omega General Help / Re: spongy brakes
« on: 23 February 2010, 17:50:38 »
will give them a few days to bed in but will prob go down the bleeding route if they arnt any better, what i cant get my head round is they were really firm and pulled the car up great before i put new ones on, do you think by pushing the pistons back in the fluid may of done something the the seals in the master cylinder?

Omega General Help / spongy brakes
« on: 23 February 2010, 17:07:28 »
just changed pads all round and both front discs, the brakes were very good and firm before but now they are very spongy and the pedal creeps down as it is pressed for a few seconds, it does feel like there is air in the system but i never undid the hoses and like i mentioned there were very good before just needed replacing.
any ideas???
 cheers

Omega General Help / 2.2 dti flat spot
« on: 18 February 2010, 17:30:30 »
just wondering if anyone can throw some light on this problem.
after coasting in 5th at about 50mph i put my foot down on  accelerator pedal and there is a flat spot or hesitation before the engine starts to pull again.
it is definitely over due on a fuel filter change, just waiting for some half decent weather..
cheers

i used to get 80 miles out of £20 when i had my 3L auto, that was i mixture of half and half motorway and town, the trip comp display was broke so i could never know what i was doing exactly but i think it worked out at around 20 mpg, that was really the only reason i got rid of it and bought a 2.2 dti.
