SKF timing belt kit sanity check
« on: 04 March 2015, 14:18:07 »

Hey all. I just took delivery of a timing belt kit for my 3.2 MV6. An SKF kit arrived (no worries there), but I thought I'd post a picture for the purposes of a quick sanity check. I was sure that I should have another roller, some bolts and a cast plate in the kit?! This doesn't look at all right to me!

You have got wrong kit, it's for straight engine not v6. The correct kit looks like this:

Thanks for confirming my suspicions, fellow OOFers. Quite how that is supposed to be a Y32SE kit is beyond me. I've sent it back (Euro Car Parts) requesting a refund, and I've bought a genuine GM kit instead. I should have done that in the first place (I've always bought genuine / Gates Powergrip kits for my Vauxhalls), but the heavily discounted ECP price tag encouraged me to give 'em the benefit of the doubt. Lesson learned, hehe!

Whats the skf number of the kit, belt looks too long for a four pot so could be right kit but with bits missing, skf stuff normally pretty good :y

I would not use Vx either though as they are WAY overpriced even with trade club discount these days.

I still get belt kits from Buypartsby, there Contitech so as per supplied to Vx.

Thanks for the advice. Noted for future reference. All sorted now - managed to get £100 knocked off of my genuine parts order. Happy days.

For reference to those of us soon to be buying a timing kit - how much did Vx do you the kit for in the end, if you don't mind my asking? Ta  :y
