Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Expansion tank wanted.
« on: 07 July 2022, 16:22:37 »
Had a game of pin the donut down with the float in the expansion tank, but no luck. So had a look on fleabay, and there are some new ones available in Germany but...£26.00 apiece and £34.00 postage, and  that's a no from me! So has anybody got one kicking around and for sale? it's just that coolant level warning is getting on my wick >:(  TIA :y

How about.....Simply Vauxhall at Beaulieu on the 16th of July, I went last year and took my VXR8, but will be taking one of the Omegas this time. Also quite a lot of Omegas were sprinkled around the show area, plus all marques of classic Vauxhalls. :y

Thanks Al, will dig out the ramps and take a peek :y

Thank you, she's coming up for a birthday shortly...wish I was only twenty two. So I should be able to disregard that the fact that there aren't real links with the PFL other than a few tweaks and it should be OK to order any big ticket items such as the compressor etc without the worry of hopefully not having to return the item to its country of origin if bought in error. I've dropped a couple of expensive bo***cks recently, and as spares are now getting pricey, I just need to pull my head out of my backside and concentrate more  ::)

Many thanks....reg X84 YGW, and chassis number WOLOVBF69Y1177005.

General Car Chat / Year 2000 F/L 3.0 a question of identity.
« on: 23 June 2022, 12:31:50 »
As above....this is the cop car. registered 7/11/2000 easy enough. But I seem to be running into a bit of confusion when trying to get bits and pieces for it. For instance.... A/C compressors have a cut off date at 09/99,which for some reason the PFL and the F/L items must differ in some way, anyone got any ideas on that one, as there doesn't seem to be a reason to fix something that already works. :-\

I'm sure you are right, will give Serek a call when he gets back from Greece.

83
I'd be up for that, also there are a couple of  Facebook Omega Owners groups who are pretty active. So it may be worth putting feelers out on those as well. :y

Thanks amba, I'm thinking the same...as I've just had the A/C system on my 3.2 Elite completely refurbed by Bee Cool ACS in Kettering, Northants and it cost around £300+ and of course refitting by SOS Automotive. Just don't want to be told that it was a leaking 'O' ring and the overkill wasn't necessary ::)

Unfortunately, this was a local garage who I haven't dealt with before. That was only the feedback given, but the dye stains were on the compressor, and that was the 'expert opinion' on the A/C system. Looks like a trip up to Serek is on the cards, but there wouldn't be any point in making the 200+ miles round trip without taking at least  a good second hand unit with me. :-\

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / 3.0 A/C compressor wanted.
« on: 15 June 2022, 20:49:41 »
Went to get the A/C serviced today...garage said traces of dye on compressor pointing to a leak, so jog on as we ain't doing it :o So has any one got a suitable compressor kicking around, got to be in good working order TIA :y

I've decided to go the route suggested on here, which will give me the option which should simplify any future hose replacement. It's good to see Nigel (Omegas 52) is back breaking the odd Omega. As I was up at his place a few months ago, and he told me that he was stepping back from his business after losing his wife to Covid. He has always been a trusted source of good S/H parts for the Omegas. :y

88
Sounds like a plan, did you use a spring clip to secure the hose as Big G advised?

89
Thanks for the advice, I was a bit hesitant to start pulling the pipes around and making matters worse....will give it a try as how you've explained it seems pretty straightforward. :y

90
Surely if it's one of the push release hose ends, how will a spring clip make a proper seal on the fixed part on the bulk head? My local garage said take the car away and come back when you have the parts, and as there are zero parts available the cars sort of not going to get fixed any time soon. :-\
