Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Projector headlamps
« on: 15 May 2008, 15:39:40 »
Just out of interest, do the projector headlamps have the same/similar lever inside to cut off the RHD upsweep of the dipped beam pattern for continental driving?
There's a discussion on a caravan forum debating where you'd use 'beam benders' or tape on modern clear, smooth headlamps, where the beam pattern is dictated by the reflector ie Omegas. I can't see that tape etc stuck to the lens will make the slightest difference to the dipped beam cut-off.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / mp3 - radio
« on: 26 March 2007, 18:02:04 »
I know it's been discussd before but in simple terms .... what do I need to buy to get an mp3 - not an iPod - to play through my car radio (CCRT700). I know that I can use one of the cassettes with a jack plug in, but it doesn't look particularly very professional & I even bought a Belkin FM modulator but that's only so-so. Can you hard wire something into the car to do it?
TIA

Omega General Help / Presumed dead Omega
« on: 17 August 2011, 23:10:55 »
saw a grey/silver facelift Omega saloon on what I assume was it's final journey to a local scrap yard on the back of a flatbed truck. Pretty sure it was Auto Save at Pimhole.  :y :y :y
Unless the near side of the car was crash damaged there didn't look to be much wrong with it.  :-? :-?

Omega General Help / door mirror switch
« on: 05 August 2011, 14:58:35 »
I thought I'd open a new post rather than tag onto Brikhead's items for sale.
What's the yellow led for? Mine like the one on the right & doesn't have one  :-?

Omega General Help / climate control
« on: 18 July 2011, 16:48:31 »
I used my car for work today, and noticed that there seemed to be very little heat from the heater. So having a little play with it tonight it seems that unless I have it set on HI then all I get from the vents is ice cold (air conditioned) air, the fans seem to be running higher than needed too - 8ish. AUTO + OFF/reset doesn't  have any effect either. I noticed it's been something like this for while but never been convinced one way or another, but now that the a/c is working as it should, it's either brass monkeys or tropical with nothing in between.
Suggestions welcome.  :y  :y

Omega General Help / Towbar electrics for Geoff
« on: 16 May 2011, 19:35:13 »
I couldn't face trawling through all the old posts, but here are the pictures of my 13 pin swivel mounting. Rear bumper removed for clarity (and I've only just collected my car from the body shop  ;D)
I have to say that despite there being a couple of holes for you to use to mount it, I couldn't find any suitable so that it could be hidden without fouling the lower edge of the bumper, so I welded it to the towbar (that's what the new black paint is on)
up out of site (or it would be if the bumper was fitted  ;))

pulled down as in use.

I might even paint the gubbins behind the plastic bumper ....... if it ever stops raining  :(

Omega General Help / washer bottle filter
« on: 27 November 2010, 15:25:59 »
For all those that have problems with getting screen wash to your screen, one of the well documented problems is the filter that the washer pump fits to the bottle via gets blocked. This is the filter (from my Astra - what a PITA to get to!  :-?) If you don't use a quality screen wash you get a build up of bacteria/slime in the bottle which will block the holes in the filter.

Omega General Help / Sunroof drains
« on: 27 October 2010, 12:27:14 »
I had a quick look for the damp inside car topic, but decided to give these pictures their own topic.  ;)
The sunroof drains through the boot on either side the passenger side is just behind where the spare wheel lives.

and the driver's side drains though the boot floor just to the rear of the wheel arch behind where the GM first aid kit has its stowage and just in front of the CD changer where fitted. Cable tied to the body.

I have to admit that the image I have in my head of the driver's side must've been my Senator  ::)  ::)  ::)

Omega General Help / waiting for Green Flag!
« on: 10 October 2010, 21:23:29 »
There I was .... on my way home from work after doing a 12 hour shift, Sunday roast was waiting for me to step through the door, about 3 miles to and the charge light came on.  :-? Bugger! Pulled up in a bus stop & opened the bonnet. In the gloom I could just about find the remants of my 'fan belt' ...... bugger bugger!
Started the car and 'parked up' on a near by petrol forecourt & rang for Green Flag. They were going to be a while, so SWMBO came for me so i eat my tea while I wait for local recovery to come out to bring the car back home. In all probablity it'll have cooled down enough for me to chance the short distance back home, but hey ho! it's be the first time I'll have called them!  :y

Omega General Help / A/C condensor
« on: 02 June 2010, 22:32:32 »
is there a recommended supplier of a/c condensors? Mr A/C man came around earlier & said that there's evidence of dye around the bottom of my condensor. TC is £214+vat but I have favourites that I think have come from here of http://www.autoairconparts.co.uk and http://www.automotive-air-conditioning-vehicle-parts.com that give a price of £86 & £123 respectively.
Any more for any more recomendations of who to buy from or definitely not to buy from?  ;)

Omega General Help / bl**dy air con
« on: 23 May 2010, 21:44:41 »
Christmas before last I had a local air con place come & re-gas my car's air con. A few weeks/months (I've slept since & I can't remember  ::))later he came again & re-re-gassed it with more dye to find the leak. He decided it was the compressor, fitted a pattern one, & a new fill valve (the one at front by the condensor) & fingers were crossed. Last summer in France it was obvious it wasn't working as it should, it could justr about keep up here in Blighty, but France's high 20s/low 30s proved too much. So about July/Aug last year it was re-re-regassed with more dye & on his returned decided it was leaking from one of the pressure switches right at the front of the car. A new switch was bought from vauxhall & he fitted it.
Fast forward to the current nice weather .........  :'( & I'm HOT! No cooling effect from the system, the ally bit that should be wet with condensation isn't & I'm a little narked & £400 lighter in my wallet.  >:(

end of rant  ;) ;)
