David Prowse was the green cross man but, because of his high-pitched whine, he was voiced by James Earl Jones.....I think.

So Alvin Stardust's real name is Dave Prowse and he along with Gary Glitter, Shakin Stevens, and Frankie Vaughan played Darth Vader in different Star Wars films. Was Shakin Stevens really Gary Glitter or was Paul Gadd really Frankie Vaughn?....and what the f**k has the Red Cross got to do with all of this?

I remember seeing his adverts during every commercial break when I was a youngster, and it was a lesson that was no doubt responsible for saving 1000's of lives every year.

Pity they don't teach people to look these days instead of asking how fast the car was going, but I have spent so long instilling it in to my grandkids every time we have to cross a road to the point where they actually "teach" me as it's a sort of game to them.

A sad loss.
