Had a bit of spare time between shifts today so had another play with Airfix one. Fitted the injector I bought last week and hoped it would solve its problem, and possibly need coding to run really sweet after that.
But no. It wont even start now, although it does try hard to. The low fuel pressure fault code has disappeared to be replaced by p0204 - injector open circuit, cylinder 4.
Took it out and put the original injector back in but nothing changed. Still wont start and p0204 code. Not sure what to do now apart from spend £95 on Chinese Renault Clip diagnostic tool, and hope it can tell me exactly whats going on.
I knew I would regret buying a french car. Never again.

Visually inspected what I can see of it, but not tested. Not even sure what to test tbh .Would I see 12v repeatedly on / off as it fires the injector ?

you can get noid lights to test injectors .but could test with a 12v light bulb
.....Would I see 12v repeatedly on / off as it fires the injector ?
yes , plus you could check for earth continuity
the plug that plugs onto the injector is a common fail
can't rule out a break in the wire of the loom

if you have got rid of the low pressure fault , you could be nearly there .don't spend till you tried simple, free tests , good luck  :y

Cheers Dave. Will have another play tomorrow. The plug has been on and off quite a few times, so might have loosened something or similar.

Service on the eldest sons Fiesta - Oil and filter, spark plugs (as well as plug leads as 3 out of 4 of them left the contacts on the ends of the plugs....  :'( ), front discs and pads and a fluid flush.

Yes thanks Henry. Worth pointing out though, as it would be an easy mistayka to mayka.

I'm contemplating some new bulbs for the Jag again.  But the £150 a pair is causing a certain amount of clenching ;D

Even more confused now. Tested continuity to earth which was ok. Voltage test was inconclusive as although it started and ran briefly, sounding like its running on two. It cut out again before I could measure voltage to the plug. I cleared the codes before trying to start it and after it ran and cut out it showed no codes present or pending, which is  a first since the problems started. I would be happy about that apart from the fact it will only run briefly on a couple of pots.
Oh and to help things along the plug to number 4 injector cracked and broke while I took it off for the umpteenht time, although it does seem to still connect to the injector.
Haynes book of bollix is no help as it has five pages of wiring diagrams for the windows, but nothing at all on any wiring in the engine bay.

probably air in the lines now ,fully charge the battery and crank it several times ,unless there is provision to remove a pipe or sensor to bleed the lines .
tractors are a pig to get started up initially after getting air in the tractor juice lines

I looked on my software, no wiring diagrams for engine management for that engine either
perhaps it's a big French secret that us normal people are not permitted to know
or maybe they don't know themselves  ;D
