Hi, Not been on here for a while as I sold my Saloon a while back and got myself an MPV, I now have a diesel estate Mondeo but want another Omega, but this time it has to be a 2.2 DTi Estate, No Gold ones though please.

I would also be interested in an Omega Estate with LPG fitted.

I would prefer manual but auto's are fine.  If I don't succeed in getting an Omega I will be going for a Freelander or sticking with what I have got. Cheers.

Vauxhall / Opel Omega 1999-2005 O/S Rear Tail Lights, Bootlid Light and Outer Light.
I will sell the set for the drivers side for £25 Paypal / Postal Order delivered or £20 Cash Collected.
Or will sell them separately for £15 each Paypal / Postal Order delivered or £12 each Collected Cash.
The outer light as per picture has a very light hardly noticable crack that does not affect the use of the light and does not allow water in.
The bootlid light has no cracks on it.

I am in Battle, East Sussex near Hastings.

After my Omega's faithful reliable time with me I sold it. 2001 X Reg 114k Miles, Sold for £1950 after some bartering on the price down from £2250 and used the money to buy myself a Galaxy Mk2 Cheap.

I don't have a bad word to say about my Omega and will sadly miss it. But well happy with the sale price!!!

Omega General Help / Mysterious Water Leak on my 2.2
« on: 15 November 2011, 02:46:07 »
Yesterday I felt really stupid. But finally resolved my brake light fault which after the faulty bulb holder was replaced I assumed the bulb was ok, but as it turned out, the brake filament was in fact broken. So now new bulb in and all working,

However I got in my Omega at about 9pm and after the brake light check message went out, Coolant Level came up on the screen. So I immediately switched the engine off and opened the bonnet.

I checked the coolant level and found it was below half. But there is no obvious leaks, no patches on the path etc... The only thing I haven't checked is the oil cap to see if there is any chance of it being the head gasket.

This happened once before about 3 months ago but I topped the coolant up and never had the issue until now.

I am going to fully investigate tomorrow. But am very worried now.

Since I replied to a wanted post about a steering idler, I have been receiving a fair amount of emails about people who want the part. I don't mind receiving the messages but I am afraid it is sold.

However, I have tracked down a company who sell Original Equipment Lemforder Steering Idlers.

Here is a direct link.

I really hope this link helps.

P.S, I have never used that company so cannot vouch for them, but hope the link helps.

Omega General Help / V6 and 2.2 16v Exhaust Compatibility Question.
« on: 12 November 2011, 23:30:35 »
I have come across this nice quad exit exhaust that is currently fitted to a 3.0V6 Facelift Omega Saloon, I was wondering if the the backbox would just bolt or fit straight on to my 2.2 16v Middle pipe? Or is there a lot of modifying needed to be done?
Cheers

Omega General Help / A question about standard window tints
« on: 29 October 2011, 14:53:04 »
I was wondering what percentage the windows are tinted from the factory as I want to tint all the windows slightly darker without breaking the law. Cheers.

I have the 2001 CD Spec Saloon model.

When I first got the Omega, the guy I got it from said it had an intermittent fault with the passenger side rear brake light which was a case of a dodgy connection and you had to jiggle it to get the brake light to work, But as a general rule I replace all rear bulbs as soon as I can after first getting a car, So I popped down to GSF in Hastings where I bought the new bulb, which of course didn't solve the problem, Luckily I am good friends with all the staff down there, they came out and fiddled with it, and in the end diagnosed the fault as being the bulb connectors not touching the bulb all the time, weird I know, but we got a pair of pliers while we were still at GSF and it resolved the issue straight away!

Then the car showed no signs of any problems from May 2011 until 3 weeks ago where it started to work on and off, and now it wont work at all but I have got side lights, I tried with a mate, swapping the bulbs over, still not resolved it but both filaments in both bulbs worked on the drivers side, so after lots of playing around my friend and I assumed it could only be 1 thing. The bulb holder!

So I bought a 2nd hand bulb holder from Omegaspares via ebay at a very reasonable price, It came in the post this morning, and it has not solved the problem.

Once my physio therapist has been I am going to try cutting the old plug off and fitting the one that came with the bulb holder and see if that works. But if it doesn't, please has anyone got any idea's?  ??? :( :-[

Cheers

I was watching various different video's of of the Opel Omega, Vauxhall Omega and the Cadillac Catera, and I came across a roof spoiler fitted to a saloon Omega B pre facelift, I am assuming that it is not a standard part, and have hunted through Ebay and Google and can't find them listed anywhere that I have looked.

If you know where I can get one please can you send me a link?

Here is a picture of the car.

I took a couple of screen shots and put them into 1 file.

Cheers

General Car Chat / Am finally starting to feel relaxed with my Omega
« on: 28 September 2011, 01:47:14 »
At last my to do list and car needs list has shrunk dramatically,  I was thinking of getting rid of my Saloon to get an Estate Omega, but the Frontera I bought 2 weeks ago is doing the job of the Estate car perfectly! So my Saloon is here for keeps.

I had a MASSIVE string of post it notes stuck to my bedroom wall with everything I wanted to do to the Omega and everything that needed doing, and had look at it twice today when I realised how many things have been crossed off.

And the thing that was worrying me the most, most recently was my gearbox sticking in 3rd a bit if I didn't run through the gears properly 3 times before I drove off from the car being parked up for any amount of time.

I have ordered all the parts for the Gearbox service, and after carefull thought, I bought a new filter.

The 2 sump gaskets and the filter from JPAT including VAT and cheap standard 1st Class Postage cost me a few pennies under £27.
I bought the Dexron 3 oil from Eurocarparts, Carlube brand which has never caused  me any grief in the past, that was £27 for 5.5 litres after a promotional discount.
And I went to my local vauxhall dealer and bought a brand new gearbox sump plug for a few pennies under £7 which I am collecting on Thursday morning.
And I bought a manual pressurised fence sprayer from Ebay through the Argos clearance thingy for £10 minus a few pennies to pump the oil into the car and it even says the litres on it so I can put the right amount in first time round. It is a 6 litre container, So I know I can put the 4.5 litres I need straight in.

£71 roughly is what I have spent and for the first time in a while I am happy to have spent that after being quoted over £200 all in for the same parts from my Vauxhall dealer, and the parts are all Genuine GM I was told on the phone. So very happy.

So providing the weather is good down here on the coast this weekend, my Omega will be off the road having a gearbox service, followed by new fuel filter being fitted, and some fault finding on my I.C.E as the wiring seems to have come loose or maybe I have blown some speakers as I know I managed to blow my subwoofer  ;D

This is the Omega when I went to the beach today:

This is my trusty Frontera that has made it possible for me to keep my Saloon:

Yes, I know, More photo's  ;D ;D ;D

This time only 3 to start with.

Hi, I am still after a set of alloy wheels, must have good tread tyres, and am still not bothered if they are kerbed as long as they are NOT buckled or cracked, My budget is only £50 but am starting to need them quite soon as my rear tyres on my car are getting close to legal limit.

I am interested in the 17" Elite Alloys or any wheels 17" or bigger.

Please let me know asap.

Cheers.

Cars for Sale & wanted / SWAP Wanted Please.
« on: 24 September 2011, 16:51:00 »
Sadly I am beginning to have to admit I want an estate car again.

But I don't want anything other than an Omega.

So I am offering up my 111k Miles and going up as in daily Omega 2.2 Auto CD Saloon 2001 X Reg in Star Silver 2, 4 door saloon, Towbar with twin electrics, EVERYTHING WORKS, Air con needs a re gas, It will go without any stereo fitted but will come with the original CD Player that was in it when I got it.

MOT July 2012
Tax Feb 2012

Prodrive spoiler.
Various marks around the body.
Rear Parking Sensors with audio and visual display. Audio can be turned off for towing.
Towbar with twin electrics.
Was DIY serviced 3 months ago.

I went from a 7 seater people carrier to this car and am noticing the difference.

I would like to do a straight swap for a 2.2dti or 2.2 Petrol Estate, Must be Automatic due to my poor health. And ideally similar spec please.

This is my first ever how to guide and hope that it has not already been covered.

I bought this Reverse Parking Sensor Kit from Hong Kong through an auction site for under £13 delivered and already the right colour and it comes with the correct size drill bit and hole saw.

You will need:

Tape Measure.
Drill.
Masking Tape.
A Pen or Pencil.
A Long Screwdriver (Either Philips or Flat headed) Makes no difference as it is only used to make a long hole!

Firstly I put masking tape op either side of my bumper.
And I measured 15.5cm from the bottom crease in my bumper across 4 points each side and then for the inner sensors I measured 2 inches from the reg plate area by hooking the metal bit of the tape measure on to the edge. And made a cross where I wanted the inner sensors to be.
Then I measured 1 foot from the lip of the reg plate area to the outer section of the bumper for the outer sensors.

I then drilled the holes and hand picked the little rough bits left from drilling the hole.
Then I used my really long screw drover and at a downward angle from the inner sensor holes only I made a big enough hole for the sensor wires to be fed through. I used a long cable tie aswell to assist the wires through. The outer sensor wires I ran across the inside of the bumper and fed down the same hole as the inner sensors to the underneath of the car. (Harder then it sounds!)

I ran the wires across the inside of the bottom of the bumper being careful not to give the exhaust any opportunity to melt the wire. I ran them all to the drivers side of the car.

I then fed a spare bit of long wire down through the vent from inside the car until I could see it dangling under the car. I then taped all 4 sensor plugs and wires to the wire and pulled it through to the inside of the car.

Now for the EASY BIT  ;D

I located the brain for the Parking sensors on the inside of the rear quarter panel wing up out of the way of harm but easy to get too incase of any future possible problems. I mounted the brain using the velcro it came with which had a sticky back.

Then I ran a pair of wires across the car in the boot with the lights wiring loom and splices it into the black and white wires on the left hand side of the car. I splices the positive into the black and white wire and then connected the negative to the earth wires that are bolted to the body work near the loom. I wired the negative to the earth first. Which you should always do.

I then got the display unit and stuck with the double sided sticky pads it came with on the dash almost central under the windscreen and routed the wire under the windscreen and round and down the drivers side of the car and tucked it under the rubber door sill and under all the trim under both doors and fed it up under the side of the rear seats into the boot compartment and round the back of the tools section into the pocket compartment where I located the brain.

I then plugged all of the wires in as per instructions and labelled wiring and brain.

And hey presto, Reverse parking sensors fitted and working.

By wiring it in as described above, the reverse parking sensor system comes on automatically when you put your car in reverse!
