On a side note, is there a recommended locking kit for the Desmond?
A £5 wedge is fine for the Omega 4 pot petrols - as the design means its either correct, or a tooth (or more!) out.

Leave till original the Vauxhall schedule and save your self some money.

(runs and hides)
Is that still 80K miles or 8 years? The impression I get buying used Omegas regularly is that once out of warranty Omegas only get basic servicing (oil change, tyres, plugs and brake pads as MOTs demand) and soldier on ruggedly for 10 or more years until something major fails.

GM changed the interval to  40K/4 Years due to the number of warranty claims for broken cam belts.

If you feel lucky you can try to push yours to 80k but, having been on here long enough to see a few cam belts fail when neglected, and some even within 40K, I know what I'd rather do. ;)

That said, mine's currently 2k overdue. :-[

The shortened interval only came about as certain dealers were only changing the belts, resulting in pulley failures... affected the Vectra B too.

I wonder if the same dealers were also passing off cheap parts as genuine with a view to dramatically increasing revenue :-\

Possibly.

As I say, if you feel lucky... ;)

The GM recommendation remains at 40k / 4 years.

I did mine every 80k, but then, it was doing 800+ miles a week, so on time, was about half the interval :-\

What do we reckon then chaps - ACDelco ones worth a bash? I will be fitting with the help of a tame guru, but he isn't VAT registered so I imagine if it goes pop then I couldn't claim against them/ the seller/ my dustman...

Yes, I may have forgotten to ring the factors today on my "break"...

Nothing like positive thinking!

In the photo it seems to be missing one pulley....

There are still some there on a different listing, but if the photo is correct it does not look complete.

Here it is again, though as observed the picture lacks the third pulley.

I emailed the guy to ask, as I need a kit for the Elite

I asked:

Hi. Does this kit contain three rollers - the two attached to the tensioner, and also a separate, lower idler which looks similar?

Response:

This image is not a generic image, the images shown shows exactly what you will recieve. I am aware there are 2 or 3 different types of this kit dependant upon your chassis and engine numbers. The one you are talking about retails out at around the £100 mark. If you send me the registratons of the vehicles you need these for i can quote you a price ?
