Wouldn't worry too much about that - the radio comes on when doing some diagnoses, possibly the cheap doesn't fire it up if it detects an error before that point.

Interestingly, the radio must be on during g/box upgrade....

Have you done a gearbox upgrade with a 3rd party headunit?

No.

But apparently, the flash fails part way through if the radio is turned off  ::)  :-X

To be honest, due to the conditions (wet cold and dark) and the fact that my battery was flattened by the repeated attempts, we did not conduct a very scientific study in the sense that we did not have a control group and we did not try to replicate the findings… but as anecdotic evidence it definitely seems this way.

AA, having given this some further consideration… I don’t see how pursuing the warranty avenue can help. If the suspected faulty sensor is sent back to Vx, then they will either test it using some sort of test rig, or just hook it up to a ECU and see if it flags-up an error code – but because the fault is intermittent, it will seem Ok and they will send it back saying no fault found. It is unlikely that they will actually fit it to a car and drive around with it for a couple of weeks… So it would seem that you will need to sort this one out on your own?

Incidentally, now that you have reset the airbag light with the Cheapo Tech-II, doesn’t it look like a very good investment compared to Vx charge of £45 for each reset?  ;D

That wouldnt be a problem AA...tho i carnt remember.....would there be enough room at the bottom of the door for 2 sensors....ie your old one just resting in the bottom of door without getting in the way of window etc......coz i know my sensors are rivited in....and i get nervous about drilling rivits out holding an airbag sensor in!

All you have to do is disconnect the battery first ;)

The point I was making earlier, it doesn't seem to matter whether the audio is switched to tuner or tape, as soon as I plug in, it goes to CD.

It doesnt on mine  :-?
