Ok, Kate needs to put some K-Seal in her car.
So if she can get her car to my house next weekend, we will be able to see for sure what is happening be it the head gasket or not.
If the worst comes to the worst and it is the head gasket how much will the bits cost Kate?
Will the heads need skimming?
Also will anyone be available to do the heads at my house?
I will give you a hand  :y

Probably off e-bay, but before you rush out and buy it, I would suggest you ask about the disadvanteges of putting something like that in your rad/engine.

No - No - No !!!

Any coolant leak "fixing" additive will clog up narrow coolant passages and give you nightmares!

The actual cause needs to be established before anything is done. Once this is established, the course of action will be constructive.
If you remember from Shifnal, the stat. had been removed by the previous owner, suggesting that overheating has maybe been a problem before. The oil cooler area has been opened up in the past, (evidence the Red Hylomar sealant), so it would be potentially wasteful of everyone's time to make assumptions without proper diagnosis. I would gladly help, Daz, but 10th/14th April is no good for me, I'm afraid.
A further thought. Dependant on how Kate's car could be taken to Stoke, it might be easier to use my address, which is probably halfway to both addresses. I have a good, private, off road area which could be used, and almost all the tools required, and anyone would be welcome if the date was right. I could even offer overnight accommodation for two males and one female if required, or more if you're prepared to rough it.
And Southport's not too bad a place.  :)

No option, we need the car in the midlands to do the work!

Forget the gasket kit Kate, we can sort that out as many of the gaskets in the kits are no good.

I am yet to see a V6 head that needs skimming.

I also keep some re-furbed V6 heads on the shelf shoucl ti be neccassary to change them.

Bits wise, its dependent on exactly how much you decide to do.

;) We do see it when we look hard at full moon etc. but I still haven't dared to swim in it.
Perhaps we'll see it more often as the ice caps melt.  ::) ::)

Im also willing to help if i can, as Mark says the car needs to be in the Midlands, its just gonna make things easier all round, if need be i can trailer it for the price of fuel? or as already suggested Greenflag it if poss, your welcome to bring it to my unit or Daz's as suggested, could do with being in easy reach of Mark tbh, yes i am in the process of doing the HG's on my MV6 but it is the first time i have done them and Mark is obviously going to be quicker than i am, one drawback is i am not here next weekend 11/13 but i am here the folowing weekend 18/20. If its got to be done before that then your welcome to use the unit next weekend as keys can be left with someone ;) At least your guaranteed not to get wet. If the following weekend is ok and there are a few peeps willing to help then we can get it done in one go.

Hi everyone I've got a question.

When the head gasket fails does this mean that coolant will pour out of the engine really fast?

It does on mine. :-*
