Did you see the subwoofer test on Mythbusters?

167dB @ 16Hz

Yup, you did read that right - they stopped the test at that point after the sunroof was blown out of the car (300 Merc).

well heres a update from today had ben my friend from autoglass come over and he took the sunroof out and bonded it in to the car so it wont flex and rattle under extreme pressures that it will be put under

Hi all latest update from the weekend we finally start building the enclosure laying the foundations first of is to strengthen the roof we done this with 38x18mm batons bonded to the roof with pu adhesive  then compresses with a 3 tonne jack it took couple of hours to cure

So here is the latest up date for my build we are half way done the roof the way I have done it is a long process !




I also cut the sunroof runners Down so I can build all the way up to it  alway were eye protection when grinding I've just washed out of my eye a spec of dust

ive estimated about 500 to 700 kilos at the most im glad i didnt get the 2.0 but really wanted a td

so heres a little update for you haven't posted in a while been nothing more exciting that putting the batons in the roof and a trip to A=E lol

the roof is hallway done this is the top of the enclosure


this is expanding foamed and screwed up in place and left to go off




this is held into place with jacks and a porta ram till set





it was done in 2 sections once the the rest is done it will be fiberglass in to place

the rear quarters are also packed in with foam to eliminate any flex and rattle



should have done alot more by the end of this week as i have some time of to crack on :D

Be careful with the rear right quarter ..  the cabin vent outlets are there ... block them up and you'll steam up like crazy in the winter !!


Assuming the vents are in the same place in an Estate as they are in a saloon ....

I was assuming the car might be driven from A to B with the sound system in the O F F position ... as I doubt it could be turned down to "protect your ears" levels !!!

there is a volume knob it will be a quite setting having it on loud all the time gets to much I like some quite time too :D
