I will happily depair/remove old display and fit/pair yours.  I'd love to do this for free, but I need to make a charge (http://theboy.omegaowners.com) to partially cover the initial and ongoing costs of the Tech2.  I've done a few of these now.

Carpass is the bit of card that in your case has the mechanical key number and immobiliser PIN on it (older cars also have radio code and cd codes on). If lost, your dealer can get from VIN for £15 to £45 (shop around!).

Is yours a NCDC2011, NCDC2013 or NDCD2015?

Sounds like a good deal. I've managed to find EdwardMickey and have dropped him a PM and e-mail, so i'll let you know by PM where we're going on this.

EdwardMickey (Keith) and I have agreed on a price for the CID. Thanks for the lead.

More than happy to pay your going rate. I'll have to get in touch with the seller to make sure he's got, or can get, the carpass.

We are thinking about pestering you to do our respective CID/GID swap outs on the same day at your place as soon after I get the car as possible (I pick it up on the 29th of this month, woo hoo).

Having spoken to Mickey (not being able to see the car right now) we reckon it is a NCDC2013 as it has the single slot for the CD at the top and a 4CD multi-changer below. It has a black front (not silver like a Vectra) and does not have the SIM card holder attachment in the glove box as some of the German Omegas have.

Thanks and look forward to meeting you then or in Telford if I can get there.

If you could peraps you could PM me with a number so I and Keith can get in touch with you to arrange a good time.
Excellent news :y

Makes sense to do on same day.

Do you reckon we could aim at doing this on the weekend of the 1st or 2nd of March?

I also have read on here that there are a number of other "upgrades" which can be achieved with a Tech II, such as the Auto Gearbox software and stuff. Would it be possible to bring everything software-wise up to date at the same time?

Won't know until a bit nearer the time.

Only worthwhile upgrades are auto gearbox update and climate control update.

OK thanks, those were the two upgrades I'd read about.

I'll drop you line toward the end of the month then.

I'm hoping to get a siemens 2013 and a CID both from different donor cars both in delivery mode - is it possible to link these together ?

is a carpass required if so - my current cars? or the headunits donour car?

sorry - looked about the site, having trouble locating the answer

The donor units need to be 'unpaired' and 'decoded' from the relevant screen or head unit using a Tech 2 WHILE STILL IN THE ORIGINAL CAR.  For each car, you will need its car pass in order to place them into delivery mode.

Once they've been placed into delivery mode (EACH), then the two independent units can be married (paired) up in your car - for which you'll need your car pass.

Any single omission to any one of these things, it won't work!

TheBoy will confirm this shortly.......

I would  expect  hope that the unit in 'Delivery mode' sold  - would be ready to be paired

Time will tell - If it get the rest of the bits ( RGB cable ), and I get the correct response from the display.

The local vxhall dealer does not want to know about the tech2

You'll be able to tell once fitted even before Tech2 is plugged in.

If display flashes, "Display Safe" then it's in delivery mode.  If it remains on 'display safe' - it's not in delivery mode.

Same goes with the head unit...

If it's got a GID from the factory it'll have the RGB cable taped out of the way, at least the 3.2 I stripped that had a GID had it behind the air vent

The disc is abit out of date and I'll have to work out how to register for new a disc I suppose.

Search Ebay.de. You can buy UK 2007/8 CD's quite cheaply. Like this one : http://tinyurl.com/2lbyox

I have a TrafficMaster (Tm) button on the right hand side of the dash, if I press it twice it tells me I need to re-register it. Does this inegrate with the SATNAV so that the route is updated around bad traffic jams automatically?

That's TMC. Doesn't work in the UK due to licencing issues but works perfectly in France if you get a French Navteq CD. Gives you text warnings/messages on the screen and marks holdup, roadwords etc on the map. The Nav system even offers to route you around the jams.

Not quite. Its Traffic Master Oracle, and completely independent to the satnav functions. And it does work in the UK.

TMC is different, and is transmitted by one of the national independents (Classic FM?)
