They say that a gas tank cannot be isolated. Of course it can !!!

They clearly wrote that without knowing their @rse from their elbow.

People are afraid of LPG or any king of gas. Dont know why but I've met many who claim to rather have just electric supply than gas.

This is the result of lobbying and the spreading of paranoia by the various gas-related trade organisations to promote their "jobs for the boys".

Gas is just like any liquid / gaseous substance - liquid fuel, compressed air, even water, sewerage, etc..

Sealed = Good
Leaking = Bad

Nothing to be afraid of, really.

Yes, there are invisible dangers associated with its' leaking. Just the same as there are with petrol vapours, or even Methane from waste.

I would have thought there'd be a similar issue with any potential gas spillage accumulating in the bilges of a ferry but maybe they are properly ventilated?

As you say the channel tunnel has been built and is running on a shoestring. Last time I tried to use it it was a total farce due to the cables having fallen down onto a train - so I won't be repeating that experience all the while London has an airport and Dover has a ferry port!

You'll probably find it's just a matter of doing a "risk assessment" before they are allowed to do it (as with everything these days).

The revenue they're losing by pi$$ing off the minority of motorists with dual fuel cars is probably judged to be less than they'd have to pay some consultant to generate a load of paperwork that would make it possible to put an LPG car on the train.

Once their losses become more significant they'll probably change their mind!

I have a feeling the Mont Blanc tunnel had something about LPG on a sign near the entrance. It was in French so that's a good excuse for it being ignored :y

I guess there's liable to be more LPG in a car than in a caravan but it does seem a bit stupid. There probably isn't a sensible answer and it's just the H&S police.

I prefer the ferry anyway. Better view.

You could also save yourself a lot of driving for a night in the bar getting lashed on a ferry from closer to home, surely? (would cost a bit more, mind, even once you've saved the miles in the Omega)

Most customers don't know any better and just pay up. Seriously, I've got mates who just chuck their car at a main dealer and when they phone up with a tale of woe they don't question it. This is not people who are desperately flush, they just don't understand cars and want them back on the road asap. May as well leave a blank cheque in the glove box for them. ::)

What muppets! Give them all the diagnostic capability you can and they stick their heads up their @rses and take a wild stab in the dark guess.

You can imagine their training course:

Diesel engine: It's the glow plugs
Petrol engine: It's the head gasket.
Customer is always wrong.

Right, off you go...

True. Switching 3G off does dramatically extend the battery life of the N95. I developed an application for benchmarking battery life for one of the network operators and did a lot of testing on the N95.

If you clip it into a holder and it presses one of the buttons on the side, it'll eat a battery VERY rapidly. Scratched my head for ages on that one, thinking that it can't be right that my software was predicting a 9 hour standby time or something silly. Happened to try it out of our test fixture and realised the issue. Having a button pressed stops the processor going into standby and canes the battery good and proper!

You are right, though. Modern phones are full of bloatware which makes them tedious IMHO. I guess it's keeping Tunnie (and, to a certain extent, me) in a job so mustn't grumble. :-X

Only ever used it for testing but I tend to agree. I've hated flashy menu systems on phones since they changed from the very basic Nokia platforms. Look nice but you can't beat something very basic and quick for getting the job done. (same problem I have with Windows GUI effects - why should I have to wait for pointless animations to finish on a dual core machine?)

What firmware version are you on? And what network provider?

Tho alignment was found to spot on........so how come im scrubbing tyres........answer was........dunno mate but it says its spot on........so no charge

The answer to this is exactly the point of going to WIM for a little tutorial, I reckon. There's no such thing as "spot on". The tolerances are so wide it's a joke and the correct setting depends on other variables.

Ahhm... not sure if Tony will be happy with us producing a DVD of how he aligns the omega... then again he might not mind, but this needs to be cleared with him in advance me thinks...

Granted. It was just a thought that occurred to be thinking back to the February cam belt party.

They're like buses, it seems.

He has 2 - and a decision to make, by the sounds of it. :D
