Omega General Help / Re: Loss of top speed

Can you get this sorted asap? i need to know the answer ,my serenity has gone !

Definitely sounds like something got disturbed and fingers crossed you find it for an easy remedy.

One perhaps daft suggestion and it  would need to be coincidental is the rear exhaust box innards collapsing restricting air flow(dont know if yours is the full of horse hair type),could have begun at the last good thrashing.Someone more knowledgable than me can perhaps readily dismiss this. Good luck.

Omega General Help / Re: Engine noise, terminal?
« on: 07 March 2010, 11:35:49 »
Now i am no expert but will throw in a theory.
Valve seating, top end crud possibly disturbed when fitting injectors etc and then a particle preventing a less than perfect seal or a piece of crud departed from what was a perfect seal, this then perhaps overcome by adding oil to the cylinder. So head off and overhauled or just drive it potentially allowing it to improve.Worst case scenario (as i am having a wild guess) is the engine destroys itself but in the absence of any other cures  and head renovation not being cost effective then there doesn`t seem a lot to lose.

Omega General Help / Re: New clattering noise
« on: 20 April 2010, 21:20:39 »
It was after i bought droplinks and was about to fit them that i discovered the rattling brake pad due to most of the spring no longer being there.Changed the droplinks anyway and they were a complete sod to get off. Each turn of the nut with the spanner needed big big effort right until the nut came off and as soon as it gets slack its a 'dangle berries' trying to hold the inner part of the stud when you are applying serious pressure. There appeared no less movement in the ones i took off than the new ones! The noise i had set out to cure was definitely the loose brake pad.
Fitting new droplinks is a total doddle but taking off old ones was hard work in my case.

Clattering on mine was the brake pad anti-rattle spring bust.

does the noise disappear if you brake?

And always goes off immediately when the ignition is turned off?,also stand where you hear the noise and get someone to turn the ignition on and see does it start immediately, prior to turning the engine on.

Stop making lunatic guesses and describe this noise more accurately,as in always making a noise, engine not running, before starting, after engine has run etc. etc.Noise off immediately with ignition off?Can be heard from where exactly as in can you hear it still when sat in the car or only out of it etc.?

I may be wrong but I think only the 2.2,2.6 & 3.2 had the "spanner" light operative. As your "engine" symbol is flashing the codes it would appear to be the case with your car that the "spanner" light is disabled. The "engine" symbol on the 2.2,2.6 & 3.2 relates to emissions. My last mig was a facelift 2.0CDX with no "spanner" light

my previous car which was a 2002 2.2 cdx auto had the spanner light working which started this thread when I didn't see it working..

Would someone with a 2000/2001 2.5 v6 confirm this please???

mines a 2000 facelift 2.5 and has no spanner light showing, just the management light which goes out after start up

Very useful information.

I hope coastie123 got everything back together.
You have my sympathies sir, if, as would appear, you embarked on a wild goose chase.

No need to be concerned just yet and some oils are worse for causing mayo apparently, castrol gtx being one i was told, and this oil is popular amongst the unenlightened middle aged folk like me,until educated.

How much mayo are you talking about,a smear,a teaspoon,2 tablespoons and i am assuming you have wiped it clean each time?
Do an oil and filter change first.
