They do but very rarely and usually only as a result of the owner driving the car even though its overheating due to (for example) oil cooler failure...

A cracked head would give you oil in the water ! but if as you say it's not a common fault let's hope it's that !

Not head gasket - oil in water=oil cooler going or gone.

Awkward job to replace but well doable.  Parts just over £100 from Vx on Trade Club Card.

I was more trying to put the poster's mind at rest, rather than dis what your were saying, as HG failures on the GM V6 are rare as rocking horse poo

had the same problem last week , almost got a heart attack   . But it was the cooler that had a small leak so it wasnt so bad. I hope you get your car sorted out fast goodluck
