Thank you to all who advised me a few weeks ago that the tubes where the spark plugs go being full of oil was nothing more serious than the cam cover gasket... Rocker gasket in old money, having gone. A couple of hundred miles after changing, all seems well.

Here's a tip some of you might find useful.

Obviously when this problem occurs you need to minimise the amount of oil that runs into the bores when the plugs are removed.

I simply used a trigger sprayer from an old kitchen cleaner bottle, inserted the pipe and sprayed it out into a cup. you have to pump it slow and allow time for the trigger pump to refill due to the thickness of the oil but I found it really effective.

Yeah... Have lots of big syringes lying around the house!!

Ah, you see and experienced V6'er knows to have a 100ml syringe in his toolbox (and a spare crank sensor in the boot)
