Car SOS
« on: 28 March 2020, 21:57:08 »

I just watched car SOS and the work they have done on a Lotus Esprit. The one thing that impressed me a lot was the digital dash that was made. It got me.wondering if the same thing could be done for my Senator dash. However I can't see the name of the manufacturer on the credits or on the web. Anyone have any idea who they are. Based in Wales I believe.

I should imagine the Carlton 24v one will fit straight in. Although I think some senators came with a digital dash too.

Mine has got the digital dash but what they done to the Lotus one with the graphics whilst still maintaining the old look was amazing. Including rear camera installed and other graphics was brilliant. Just wondering if the same could be done with mine. It would be a good upgrade whilst still maintaining the original look.

Got to admit always enjoy car SOS & the instrument cluster on the Lotus was superb, didn't catch where the work was done though. On one of the earlier series they had a stainless steel exhaust system manufactured by John Ashley & I went there to have my V8 Merc done after seeing that episode, they did a great job & John Ashley actually wanted to buy my Merc, I declined his offer though.

There is a guy over at www.autoshite.com whose an electronics engineer and runs a business doing exactly what you need. I think.

The way it was put across it could be done to any cars dash cluster-at least that's the way I interpreted it-although obviously they'd need the dash cluster from the car in question, didn't catch who/where the company was though.I like watching the programme but still think Tim Shaw is an annoying twonk!

Having met Fuzz Townsend and had a tour of his facilities in Oldbury (not far from J2 of the M5), you might be advised to just ring him up

There was a very tidy looking Avenger on the show last night.

I enjoy the shows, but do wonder what the cost of the restorations is, and how many of the applicants conspire with the car owners to get their cars restored free of change. Some of the owners are clearly unfit to drive ever again, in one programme the owner died half way through the restoration, on another show the owner was a retired dentist, looked about 55, and was clearly able to pay for the restoration himself.
All that aside, it's a great programme, long may it continue. Repeats pop up all over the shop, most recently on channel 4 early in the morning.

I note it states for track and off road use only, so I would guess its not ASIL rated and hence not legal for road use sadly
