Changing Alternator
« on: 08 September 2010, 12:47:05 »

Hi all,
I need to replace the alternator on my motor. Have looked in the how to, but doesn't seem to be anything there.

It looks an awkward fiddly job, with a load of gear to come off "to see the rabbit" but I am sure I can manage it.

Does anyone have any handy tips or experience to add to make it easier?

Regards
Roger

Nothing to offer to make it easier, your hands will look as if you have put them in a bag of cats afterwards, a fiddly job, as you say, but straightforward. Usual rules apply, disconnect neg of battery within 10 secs of turning off ign and make sure you have any radio codes, etc.

Best of luck, and check aux belt condition and idler roller while you are there, might save you a more expensive job later on.
