Adobe Photoshop or other similar products
« on: 16 October 2017, 13:26:10 »

What's out there that runs with Win 10 ?

Preferably free (because I'm a tight bastid  :D) or what sort of price are we looking at for something decent ?

I've used Adobe Photoshop in various guises for years so know my way around that but the discs and more importantly the licences seem to have gone walk about  >:(

Needs to be good because i'm going to scan and transfer all my photos and slides / negatives onto hard drive / cloud based storage so I will be tweeking them as I go along  :y

Adobe Photoshop CS6 (and newer of course) works well on Win 10, I use the 64bit version.

Corel Paintshop Pro X8 (and newer) also works, but I find photoshop the easier to use.

Purchase prices of Photoshop and Paintshop are not cheap, and any other conversation about them will break forum rules ....  :)

Photoshop appears to be going Cloud based with a monthly usage fee... seems a tad strange to me but its their business plan !!

Paintshop is around £90 to buy

I did have CS6 32 bit somewhere  :(

This version of Win 10 is also 64 bit.

IF, I can find it, will it work ?

Not unusual, a lot of software is going that way. Moreso at the expensive niche end, do to all the pirating...  ...and if you're only selling low volume, pirating hurts badly.

I use a fair few packages now that are cloud based, and they do work pretty well.  But obviously there is the subscription.  Though the subscription probably works out not dissimilar to purchasing outright in some (but not all) cases.

Obviously, it doesn't work too well when on the train, esp as Chiltern's Wifi is worse than unusable for significant parts of the journey to Londonium. But blame that on the freetards who think its their god given right to steal software.
