Screenwash
« on: 11 February 2018, 10:20:01 »

What are peeps using. Now the Halfords -20C stuff is at a silly £5.63 (trade), I need to start looking at other options, esp given the way Mrs TB gets through the stuff in TBE.

TripleQX is out, as the remaining 25l of unopened stuff got chucked.

Any other brands people use work well, both on cleaning performance and resistance to freezing?  Round these parts, there are no independent type factors, its all Halfords, Euroshite and GSF etc.

Just reminded me 3.2 was asking for screen wash on Friday, luckily I'm not due to drive again until Thursday. Normally I won't bother filling it today, but it's dry. It's supposed to be wet all next week.

And yes I use ECP QX stuff, in both Zaf and 3.2, zero complaints here, cleans it up nicely.

This is bizarre, as I bought a load of concentrate when it was £2 a few months back, and put it in neat in the Jag and the Elite. It had the cleaning capability of water, and just froze all the time, when outside was about -4c.

I tried about 3 or 4 bottles of the stuff with similar results, and recently tipped the other 5 cans down the drain as it was that useless.  Plus I had a washer seal fail on the Jag, but can't say it was that screenwash or not....   ....but not risking it again.

Wonder if hellfrauds have just bumped up price because of time of year  :-\.

If it comes down in the summer, I might buy 20 of them, for next winter. Its storing the damn things ;D

TPS, Trade Parts Specialist. They are in most areas as they are the trade section for VAG main dealers and are owned directly by VAG. Retail customers can use them as well and they will normally get trade discounts on consumables.

I have my own account with them as I am involved in the motor trade.

Bad batch?

Foams up tiny bit and brings up huge Zaf screen crystal clear, same with 3.2.

Perhaps it needs mixing with water to help? Mine goes in 50/50 mix currently.

I'll have to find out what the stuff I been using is called, good stuff hasn't frozen yet and crystal clear clean, friend of mine, erm, borrows it from work, apparently its the same stuff they use on them things that go up and down the Country at over 100mph and run on tracks.  :-X

Maybe that's it, as I put it in neat.  But even neat, it still froze.

I might still have a (empty) can in garage, if so, I'll photo it, see if same as your stuff :)

I brought 5l from asda a couple of weeks ago and never again as it absolutely stinks. Worth paying a little extra i think. Saying that the insignia seems to drink the stuff as im forever filling it up.

My old Carlton had a huge screenwash reservoir and it was quite frugal in its use, too, so fill-ups were rare, unlike my Omega!
