It was the brake lights switch that left me stuck in P when at the light unable to move
sounds like either the contacts are just a little dirty/ bad or the adjustment is just a tad off.
idealy and worthwhile just doing the inevitable removal and full clean up that they usually need eventually anyway.
You on about the one that allows you out of park (check brake switch) or the one that prevents starting when in Park or Neutral?
If latter, is it better in one position (say park) than other? How are the LEDs by gearstick when it plays up?

My 3.2 has covered 245k ..178k in my ownership and still regularly covers 100+ miles most days for work.From memory has had coil packs twice/HBV also twice and gets coolant fully replaced every 2 years and is also still on original oil cooler and HG,s.
Still runs like a well kept watch too

What are your usual channels? Googling that part number brings up several European suppliers that list it for under £20. And as you would expect for a part that's actually an external standard connector, GM weren't the only manufacturer to use it: LINK
Has the car had an accident in the parst, issues with the latching mechanism is usually a sign of stress on the mechanism.
I would just look for a second hand replacement and get it chucked in, not to tricky to do
After waiting several days for coil pack to arrive, fitted it this afternoon and reassembled plenum, intake, scuttle, etc, and now it runs just sweet again - job jobbed.
Vacuum non return valve ordered for multiram system, still hasn't arrived yet, but at least engine is responsive once again and under bonnet plumbing is in order.
