Title: Auto Box problem when it is freezing.
Post by: Baliekluiver on 23 January 2019, 11:07:46
Hello Folks,

I have a strange problem with my opel omega v6 saloon. When the temperature is below -1 celcius, I can't get the gear selector out of is parking position it stays locked. After a minute or so with the engine running and some attempts the gear selector will work again.

Is there a sollution for this problem?

Sorry for my english it is not my normal lanquage.

Probably moisture on the release mechanism freezing... Could be a sign of a split on the seal where the lever drops through the floor to the gearbox...

WD40 might be a short term fix, otherwise live with it.

It was minus 3 here this morning and my astra came out of 'P' with a bit of a clunk.

When it fails, can you hear the solenoid in the release mechanism click when you press the brake pedal?

Can you use the manual release under the gear stick gaiter to release it or is it still stuck with that depressed?

When I press the brake pedal and try to use the gear stick the release button stay locked. But i can hear a relay/solenoid click when I try to unlock it.
