I wouldn't want to drive my own car around personally, Imagine if you did take your Omega around it would probably "_________" fill the blank with your imagination :D Id say blow up or brake down  ;D.. You'd also need good "Tyres::) ;D

I'd like a go in there. I've got a few mates that take their Astra Vans over there :). They keep trying to get me to go, but I'm Astra Van less at the moment  ;D.

If I ever do the 'ring it'll be on an organised (closed) track day, not a public day.. the idea of going round there while being mugged by bikers and worrying if there will be a 54-seat coach around the next bend (no, really!) or whether someone is going to go flying by and take me out makes me think it wouldn't be a very fun day!

On the other hand, organised days are meant to be a lot of fun (although you don't drive nearly as fast as you think you will, I'm told - unless money is no object, of course; crashing is an expensive business!)

Yeah, there are plenty of other bits of track that haven't got too popular for their own good, IMHO. ;)

Indeed - it'd be nice to do Spa some day.. but in lieu of affording that, I'm off to Rockingham at the weekend (after winning a competition with BaT) :y

I'd still love to do a day at the 'ring, though, just to say I've done it.

Going around the Ring is quiet cheap, its paying for the mess you make to get cleaned up that gets expensive.

Did 3 laps back in 1988 in my old golf
1st lap was slowish
2nd lap was much quicker
On the 3rd lap, my gonads got too big and shall we say, I nearly lost them  :-X :'(

I was advised that that was the time too stop and in one of the few times that I actually heeded advise ............... I did stop  :)
The hardest part imo was keeping situational awareness of all the other cars was while on the track.
Iirc, it cost 5 marks in those days

Brilliant fun though in a "scare the shite out of yourself" sort of way

I don't think I'd bother driving myself round looks expensive ( cars, petrol, tyres, insurance,etc...)  ;D, But this Taxi idea is interesting and the Taxi car a M5 V10 to give you a ride around should be fun and a bonus if you get Sabine, but as has been said I also wouldn't mind a go on a closed track but I'd imagine that would cost a fortune  :o

Anyone know the price per lap for these Taxi cars ?  :-\

Wow  ;D ;D ;D Look at the prices  ;D ;D ;D

http://www.nurburgring.org.uk/ringtaxi/taxi.php

Just seen the price  :o

The Ring Taxis (there are two) are V10 BMW M5s with modified suspension and brakes, one of them driven by Sabine Schmitz (formerly Sabine Reck). Both come highly recommended, but Sabine is said to be faster. A lap costs €195, but can take three passengers so it's pretty good value split three ways.

Need 2 more to join to get the price split 3 ways then  ;D
