When is a car 'for restoration' & when should you just throw the towel in and admit that it really should just be swept up & scrapped?

Honda S800

Riley

With the best will in the world, both these come under the latter ..... and as for what they want for them!!  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D

General Car Chat / How much?!!!!!!
« on: 03 March 2013, 20:18:13 »
The Zafira's rear door loom enters towards the bottom of the door (not half way up like an Omegas') & so consequently is used as a step by young kids. The lad across the road was repairing one for a mate. Vauxhall does a repair kit for them, it consists of half a dozen 12" long wires with a on the end, a socket for them to go in & the flexi rubber conduit from door to B post

That's be £90 a side please Sir!  :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

He knew an andyc so got 2 kits for £80

Omega General Help / wiring route for O2 sensors
« on: 25 February 2013, 21:11:26 »
I was under my car today at a fast fit centre  to see if I/we ::) could locate  where it's blowing slightly from (nearside manifold to downpipe looks a likely candidate) which ties in with when I had the rear crank seal replaced .... they'll have had to drop the front pipes to drop the gearbox.
While under the car, I could see the wiring for both O2 sensors dangling in the breeze, each tie wrapped to it own clip that the previous garage had obviously forgotten to replace. Due to fast fit fitter being in the way I couldn't see where they should fasten to.

Anyone?  :-\

General Car Chat / Blowing exhaust
« on: 24 February 2013, 12:20:39 »
I listened to the car the other day when SWMBO was driving it ...... sounds to be blowing. Just been in it now & I could smell fumes from the driver's seat (door open)
Not been under it yet, but as the exhaust is stainless, I suspect it'll be the down pipe somewhere near the two 2 bolt flanges. Too cold to be mauling about under it today though.  :(
