Gents, Ladies and None Binary Types
I've previously been accuses of not taking the advice offered on OFF, and this has to stop.
I need to do the Cambelt on my Y reg 3.2 MV6. I've got the DVD, I've got the locking kit and I've got the inclination and the time. To be fair it looks easier than doing a citroen AX 1.4 D with the wrong tools.
What I'd like is those wiser than me, to point me gently in the direction of the most cost effective offering on the internet.
By cost effective I mean best quality with no compromise for price, at the lowest price.
Did I say Please YET ...
Please. Thanks in anticipation.

Someone wiser will confirm :y

I've always used gates kit before and i know in the past ,vauxhall have re0packaged gates as oem on other cars :)
can't see which backplate it has but you could always re-use the original with new tensioners
cheap for a gates kit
i'm sure someone will be along soon to further comment

What do you mean? I think I can guess. Are you suggesting I should use the original back plate and the new tensioners ?

If the backplate has EB cast in the middle web then it is for the older type , but you can re-use the casting part/backplate of your old one, and fit the rollers

Exactly that :y
Iirc, the guide/DVD elaborates on it.

I have the DVD (had it a year :-[ and have read the guides (about a year ago). I kind of remember something.
Currently playing Cambelt Roulette. It's 45K since it was changed. :(
I promised the car that if we got to 200200 I'd do it.
We have arrived at 200200 before I was ready. ::)

I have ordered that kit, because it is cheaper and Gates is a PROPER company and you've given me enough confidence that "It be alright" . Hopefully it's cheap because they are getting rid of old stock and not because it's erm fake britian.

ebay has changed it's software, click on the link now and it won't show you the original listing (because it is sold) instead it picks some random similar item

Interesting, I made four times the timing belt + rollers & tensioner to my V6; 60,000 km, 120,000, 180,000 and 240,000. Always I wonder why I have to change that basic plate? Why just leave it there and change only wearing parts??

Yes, but I might do it in a workshop in Wolverhampton. ???
