Evening guys
 Has anyone in the Northampton area got a steering puller for the omega, decided to change the heater matrix the hard way and im stuck with getting the steering wheel off.

There's no such thing.
Loosen, but don't remove the nut.
Wind the seat back as far as it will go.
Grasp the wheel with your hands 180degrees apart and jerk the wheel as hard as you can. This might take several goes, as the wheel probably hasn't been off before. It's on a splined taper, and it's the jerk that releases the taper.


You could remove the nut, but will smack yourself in the face with the wheel when it does release.

You learn something every day. Looks really wimpy; those lugs don't look up to much.

I made mine for my Manta, I bent the wheel slightly trying your method, but it worked on my Omega too.

I've got one of those, works a treat. Before that I had many a battle, rocking and heaving the wretched thing. £18 well spent.

Which is why you always leave the nut on a couple of turns. Unless you're watching somebody else do it, and need a laugh.

Never had to use a puller, also used Nicks way on numerous cars over the years.  As said never fully remove centre nut until wheel is off the splines

Nick's way is Haynes way. I have done it enough times on Senators, but when it came off I felt entitled to a round of applause and a cup of coffee. A bit like removing suspension joints with two hammers. Using the right puller makes it a lot easier, and one of the joys in my life is buying the right tools to make jobs easy.

They`re quite robust, I got one after my last battle with a Senator steering wheel, it just wouldn`t budge.
