There's no such thing.
Loosen, but don't remove the nut.
Wind the seat back as far as it will go.
Grasp the wheel with your hands 180degrees apart and jerk the wheel as hard as you can. This might take several goes, as the wheel probably hasn't been off before. It's on a splined taper, and it's the jerk that releases the taper.

You could remove the nut, but will smack yourself in the face with the wheel when it does release.

You learn something every day. Looks really wimpy; those lugs don't look up to much.

I made mine for my Manta, I bent the wheel slightly trying your method, but it worked on my Omega too.  :y

I've got one of those, works a treat. Before that I had many a battle, rocking and heaving the wretched thing. £18 well spent.

I normally do Nicks method, last time I ended up with a black eye and a nose bleed.  :(

Which is why you always leave the nut on a couple of turns. Unless you're watching somebody else do it, and need a laugh.

Never had to use a puller, also used Nicks way on numerous cars over the years.  As said never fully remove centre nut until wheel is off the splines  ;)

Nick's way is Haynes way. I have done it enough times on Senators, but when it came off I felt entitled to a round of applause and a cup of coffee. A bit like removing suspension joints with two hammers. Using the right puller makes it a lot easier, and one of the joys in my life is buying the right tools to make jobs easy.

They`re quite robust, I got one after my last battle with a Senator steering wheel, it just wouldn`t budge.

Might be very bad practice frowned upon, but the other method I've heard (I've never needed to do it, all cars I've ever needed to they've almost fallen off with only a small tug) Is to loosen the nut as above, have someone pulling int he wheel, while another person gives the nut/column a tap. Again, the vibration and being on a taper should shift it dead easy.  :)

Never needed a puller, its all about technique. Using a similar combo to Nick W and DBG at the same time has never failed

Yep, used the official puller before and they do work ok.

But I always brace my knees below the wheel, wind the nut to the top of the threaded set and give the column a knock with a suitable club.

Evening guys
I've mange to get the bloody steering wheel off, i had to use controlled heat from a blow torch on the main nut
then i smacked the back of the steering wheel and it came off, bit confused why their should be so much rust
on the colum and steering splines but heater matrix out and away for repair just got to put the bloody thing back togather  :-\ :-\
