It is possible to get to it, its stuffed behind the centre console.
Tho its sounds like it the resistor feed it thats at fault.
You have to take out the glovebox to get to it :y

And you don't have to take the glovebox out to get to it, although it is pretty awkward to access. ;)

Correct, but easier to take it out, only 4 screws. Then look up towards the right, from the floor.

The fan itself is electrically pretty simple, it either works or it doesn't. So if high speed is missing but the fan is otherwise OK then your hedgehog (speed control unit) is likely faulty.
You can test the fan without removing it by unplugging the connector and connecting the two big wires direct to battery voltage. It should run at full speed. Alas there doesn't seem to be a reliable test for the hedgehog.
Be very careful putting in a new hedgehog as it is extremely easy to break the clips that hold it in position.
Facelift models have better access than the earlier models. It's not difficult to remove the glove-box once you identify all the screws, so take it out anyway. Wear some clear safety glasses, just in case any crud falls into your eyes whilst you have your head in the foot-well under the dash.

Hi all, i may have a similar problem.... Omega 2003 2.6
All digital display/functions operate normally but the heater blower will not run at all i think i hear a very low creaky sound when i turn the heater system on but the blower/fan will not operate my system is the climate control type.
Any Ideas any fuses or is it parts required...
Thank you in Advance

For spinning purposes, the fan can be reached through the pollen filter. If it spins freely, then you have a dead hedgehog or control panel fault.
If it is stiff or stuck fast then you will most likely require a new motor/fan assembly :'(
Of course, don't rule out the big orange fuse in the cabin fusebox. Because that's never failed before and changing said fuse is easier than pulling the fan out ::)
