ESP : C111200; C327100: C326600

C is chassis. 1112 is the major fault code 02 is the minor. In this instance 1112 refers to a bad front ABS sensor.

So a quick lesson in DTCs, the first four digits are the circuit identifier, the last two, the condition identifier.

C1112 is the front left wheel speed sensor according to my info.

the 02 is an implausible signal.

That tells me that electrically all is ok (not open circuit, short circuit, short to batt) so there is a either an issues with the reluctance ring or a load of crudd affecting the signal.
Am I misreading something, as the codes posted show minor/condition code is 00 ?

No, you are correct, from what I've read up about it, it's a fairly common fault on my model, new sensor should cure it.

Worst case scenario, it could be the Reluctor ring which is a lot cheaper, but a bit of a pig to change.

Try 22Nm ;)

Where did you get that from, the correct torque setting is 7Nm.

Haynes, albeit an earlier model, hence use of the word try...

7nm is practically finger tight :-\

Was it not given in the guide I linked to?

Actually WIS doesn't give a torque specification...

It's a 220, sensor fitted, jobs a good'un. It's impossible to get a torque wrench on the bolt anyway, so the torque setting is irrelevant ;D

Without plugging it in, you'd struggle to tell the difference  :y

why would a sensor need a TTY bolt? And 7Nm suggests an M6 bolt, so the difference between yielding and snapped-off-flush-in-the-hole is tiny.

Just answered my question: it's a Mercedes - pointless, complicated, fussy engineering for the sake off it.

Not today, but late last night, V6 exhaust mocking up on the parts car, then the engine is coming out.

It will be interesting to compare sounds and performance between conventional and X-pipe versions.

Put the Pussy's door back together, only to find the bass speaker is muffled and the other is dead. So strip it down again, and can see the bass is damaged by the original poor build, as the loom was trapped between the speaker and the doorcard, and has split the flexible ring that holds cone to frame.  Top speaker just dead.

So swapped with speakers the other side, and the faults moved with the speakers.

Also found on the good door, poor build quality meant the loom was pressed against a sharp self tapper.

Thats pretty shit given the cost of the car when new :-\

I learned a valuable lesson yesterday, I'm too old to mess about with cars. :'(

If my next door neighbour hadn't come to my rescue, the car would still be in bits today.

Changing the front wheel sensor was far more complicated than Haynes suggested, in fact they got a number of things wrong.

It's only 8 steps ???

The only difference that I can see between the Pelican Parts guide and WIS is that WIS mentions replacing the sealing ring onto the new sensor (if not supplied with one) in order to prevent water from getting to the wheel bearing.

First off, both suggest there are 3 bolts holding the wheel arch cover, there are 7, 4 located underneath the car + 4 heavily concealed push in connectors.

The only way to remove the sensor from the back of the hub and get at the bolt that is holding it is to remove the dirty great clip (a nightmare) holding the cables and brake pipe from the arm.

I can't crawl underneath cars anymore, if I had known I had to I wouldn't have started the job

https://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/Mercedes-W204/62-BODY-Wheel_Well_Liner_Removal/62-BODY-Wheel_Well_Liner_Removal.htm :-X

Linked from the original link as part of the instructions...

And first thing on the list "Begin by safely lifting and supporting the vehicle and remove the wheel from the area you are working in."

Never too old to read the instructions...  ;)
