General Discussion Area / Zero hour contracts
« on: 23 June 2018, 23:53:53 »
Hello folks, not been on for quite a while since regrettably scrapping my Omega Elite :(

Anyhoo, I believe I work to a ZERO hour contract, where I have a start time (6:30 AM) and no guaranteed finish time, paid on a day rate rather than hourly rate.

Iv not been getting home on average, earlier than 7:30PM regularly. Last night for example I got home at 9PM - this has happened more times than I can count, it has sometimes got to 10PM. As you can imagine I got a bit pissed off at the hours and my now ex-boss wouldn't or just couldn't be arsed to see if I could change my hours so that I see my family.

Today I told him I quit as I have another job to start on Tuesday next week. My now ex-boss has said I need to give/work a weeks notice before I can quit, I believe I am not obliged to work any notice.

Any advice to say if I have to give/work a weeks notice.

I have been employed by them since March 1st 2018

« on: 11 August 2017, 16:26:06 »
Does anyone know how to setup port forwarding on the newer V3 Superhub that VM supply please.

Iv recently had to have them come out to my VM box and the 'engineer' replaced my older box with the new V3 box, but now I can't get to setup port forwarding for remote viewing of CCTV

Hello folks, just trying to create a bit of space, so have a few parts for free.... before going to the tip....

I will post them, but will be at your cost and risk....  :y

I have a longnose plenum, painted in Persia Red, and comes complete with throttle body....

Some exhaust parts, that have been modified on the tailpipe, but can easily be sorted if you can weld...

Various buttons/switches... as usual they have the rubber stuff going to shit, but they do still work but tend to be a bit sticky to the touch.... mainly dashboard buttons but also IIRC theres a couple of window switches too....

More to be added as I find it...

All will be tipped/chucked in the bin by next weekend - May bank holiday.....

Please either PM me for my phone number if interested.... I don't get on here so often these days since scrapping my Omega :( but I will do my best to answer ASAP...

General Discussion Area / Caught myself a scumbag......
« on: 09 March 2017, 17:06:15 »
So....

Wife went to her parents house about 10:15 coz they are getting on a bit now and she hasnt seen them for a week or so....

I was upstairs in our bedroom...

I had just got changed into my scruffs, coz Im doing a bit of decorating in my sons room, thought Id just check email and have a quick look on Ebay....

Dog started to bark, he does this if the wind changes direction - but I looked on the CCTV cameras anyway and saw nothing, so thought nothing of it....

A minute or so went by, and out the corner of my eye I saw a shadow... thinking that maybe my middle lad had come home from school early... went to see what he came home for... some fella was stood with his back to me, then turned round... honestly I shit meself, then andrenalin started to kick in, I grabbed hold of him and started to ask questions like... who the F are you....? What the F are you doing in my sons room etc.... He said he was a taxi driver and his fair had just run off from him and he was looking for someone called John... I escorted him via his throat down the stairs to find this 'taxi'... then he said his 'mate' was driving the taxi and must have drove off finding this fella called John...

We went outside, saw no taxi, he started to struggle and plead with me to let him go and he couldnt breathe... I wasn't letting him go, nor was I loosening my grip of him.... went back into my house to get my phone to call police, he started pushing me back, I dragged him outside again and threw him to floor... Now anyone thats ever met me will tell you Im not exactly big, maybe a bit fat but not big, Im 5'5 1/2 and 14 stone.... at this point there was a neighbour walking by with her dog and baby in pram, she stopped and saw what had happened and asked do I need Police, yes was the answer.... she called the Police and went about her business.... I had him pinned up against our front fence and front of our house with my elbow on his throat and my other hand gripping his coat.... I loosened my grip a little bit as he was turning blue and gasping for breath, as he started to sit down he pushed me away from him and pissed off.... I chased after him, I cant run and he was getting away from me, fortunately another neighbour must have heard the shouting etc... and saw this fella running from me.... he rugby tackled him to the ground, thankfully... I caught up and knelt on his chest, this time I wasnt gonna let go of him if he turned blue or any other colour... I dragged him back to my house and waited for the Police to turn up.... it fealt like ages but was only a couple of minutes of that....

Anyhoo the long and short of it, a scumbag is off the street, Im not hurt - I cant say that he isnt...

Iv had the Police onto me this morning telling me that he was kept in custody overnight, he will be going to court today, and confident he will get a couple of years away.

He's been charged with a number of offences, as he'd been into someone else's house before coming to mine....

It seems that just googling his name has brought up a few things about him, he just doesn't learn, do they ever....?

Sorry for the long post....

Anyone else seen what the ex-wife of the Rochdale MP Daczuk...

Karen Dabczuk launched a Twitter attack on the McGanns....

I kinda agree with Mrs Danczuk TBH...

If it was anyone else that left the kids alone, they would have been arrested and their kids taken from them....

General Discussion Area / Problems with caravan fridge...
« on: 11 February 2017, 18:08:26 »
Went into our caravan yesterday, to switch on the heater to keep damp etc.. at bay (I do this once a week when its cold and damp weather)

We're going away in it for the weekend in a couple of weeks so thought Id make sure everything is working etc... so switched everything on..

Pump OK working... water gets hot and is running...

Toilet flushes, needs refilling with the blue stuff...

Shower works, gets hot as it should...

Switched on fridge, cant test that straight away coz it needs time to work, went out to it today to see if its getting cold.... nope - nowt happening...
Light comes on inside, so 12V side is working, fired up the gas part, that works, electric side seems to be working (cant really test it without stripping the thing out) so removed the inspection vents for the flu... rear of fridge is getting warm, so can only presume it is working but the refridgerant has either evaporated or the fridge is FUBAR..

Been looking online, and gone through the oparts of the horror stories saying itll cost £1000+ to replace, then looked at a caravan DIY repair saite... a lot of people on there saying to remove the fridge from where it is sited and unplug it from all sources (gas and electrics) and turn it upside down for 1/2 hr then turn correct way up again, then repeat a couple more times, thus allowing the gases and chemicals to mix again.... a lot of people seem to have had success with this... so will be giving it a go tomorrow (got nowt to lose on it)..

Anyone had any similar experience with caravan fridges...?

Omega General Help / Will they fit...?
« on: 13 July 2016, 07:12:32 »
Will the springs off a MV6 estate fit a saloon....?

Im thinking of replaceing the lowered springs on my Omega for a set that are not quite as low, and then re-instating the SL shocks. We're planning on doing quite a bit of touring over the next couple of weeks with our tintent and was wanting to give the Omega a better chance of handling the weight of the caravan better......

Omega General Help / In a bit of a quandry.....
« on: 20 June 2016, 21:59:12 »
Have rebuilt the V6 in my Omega.... but can't for the life of me remember if Iv got the correct pulleys timed with the correct cams...

Before I turn the key, and see if it fires up.....

Is it the cam timing pulleys are marked 1 2 and 3 4...?

Giving that 1 is bank 1 nearest bank to offside, then in order, 2 is next then 3 then 4 being nearest to nearside....?

Cam 1 should be on mark of 1, bank 2 on mark of 2.....? they are offset...

I think theyre timed correctly as I spun the engine over by hand twice and the marks all came back to the correct resting position on the timing marks.... also using the proper locking tool, the back to back C tool that lines up the cam marks was spot on with both sets of cams.... so it must be correct....?

I dunno if Im overthinking this with it getting a bit late now, I just dont want to turn the key and knacker a couple of valves coz theyve smashed into the pistons.... if that happens I'll be either looking for another engine or just getting meself another car....
