Omega General Help / Timing Belt very loose or slack
« on: 14 December 2012, 11:50:53 »
Hello dear members, Yesterday I managed to change the water pump, tensioner, and all staff there. But for some reasons the timing belt is loose or slack. I tried to adjust the tensioner but nothing seems to be working. The belt in question has no marks. Tried to fit the old belt it does the same. Before I removed the old belt, I aligned the cam marks with camshaft cover and crankshaft pulley with arrow on the block. Anything I’m missing? Please help. :-\

:) Some few days ago I posted in this column that my omega 2.2L estate Z22XE was misfiring then stalling when accelerating and auto gearbox could go into limp mode.

I was advised by Mr. Albs and Mr. Proz to change the camshaft sensor. I have good news today to say that I tried to change the cam sensor, in fact the one which was there was the after market one (not original). I assume the garage replaced this one. But this time I ordered the GM made by Siemens. And the all problems have vanished. However, there is hestitation and some few jerks mainly when going up hill.

Once again thanks very much Mr. Albs and Mr. Proz, may the Lord bless you.

Reassembled everything, I cudn't trace where to fit one pipe at the back of the engine driver's side. I started the engine, it went vroooooom!!!!!!! but vibrating vigorously with rough sound like a 7 tonner truck. I want to go back on it today to see whats happening. if anyone has got ideas, pliz advise, I know there are some experts there. May the Lord bless u all as we are approaching Xmass, gibby

Omega General Help / cylinder head torque
« on: 25 November 2011, 21:56:00 »
WHEN I WAS CHANGING THE HEAD GASKET on omega z22xe 2198cc 2001 auto, I HAD THE INFORMATIOM OF TIGHTENING THE HEAD AS FOLLOWS:first stage 25NM, second stage 90 DEGRES and last 90 degres again. But after looking on the forum it seems to continue to fourth stage 90 degres and then last stage 15 degrees.
SO MY QUESTION IS, SHOULD I JUST LIVE AS IT IS OR ADD ANOTHER 90DEGREES THEN 15 DEGREES? OR SHOULD I BUY ANOTHER SET OF BOLTS AND START ALL OVER AGAIN? PLEASE ADVISE.

I'M VERY SORRY FOR BEING A PAIN THIS FORUM.

Omega General Help / car can't start
« on: 24 November 2011, 19:14:29 »
I recently changed head gasket on mi omega 2.2l (2198cc) 2001 Z22xe, auto. when I remove the timing cover and turning the engine to TDC, the inlet cam mark was slightly off mark ( almost 2 teeth before the mark on the rocker cover; the marks on exhaust cam and crank shaft were exactly matching. So after replacing the head gasket, I put back the timing belt but adjusted the the inlet cam shaft to match with the rocker cover mark. When I tried to start the car it can't start but cranking. Please help, what can I do to sor :-\t out this problem.

thaks, Gibby
