Hey feller.

Wow, thats a healthy list of, ermm...niggles!

Is it a pre/post facelift? I know there was some Omega 'C' switches on ebay a few days ago. If that helps?  :y

Ok, I'm splitting hairs here but:
Omega "A"...was the name of the Carlton in Europe
Omega "B"...is what we know as Omega's ('94>'03)
Omega "C"...no such beast.
 :y
Yeah, so they say. But some very prominent manufacturers still list then A,B and C. Plus my Gm brake pads had A Band C on the box. Genuine packaging. Strange.

AH! Thanks for that feller! I just think it's fairly clear what people mean when you say 'Omega C.'

I concede it may not be official; but then again, I know how I'd feel if i bought a brand new bonnet for a 2002 'Omega B' to find it was a '94-'99 model bonnet!! ''But it is an Omega B bonnet'', the man would insistently tell me when I went to get it exchanged.

Maybe it should be made a retronym?  :-/

Oh, just thought I should say, I've just spotted 'markey mark' has a self-levelling rear damper in the for sale section.  :y

5749
Never had the luxury of self-levelling, so don't miss it :(

Let us know how you get on.

I have a feeling we havent heard the last of you!

5750
Experiences with Senators suggests most owners replace the self-levelling system with standard units when they wear out. Suppose it depends how keen you are to keep self-levelling, really.

Is it a bit of a gimmick/toy, or do you find yourself appreciating its there? Therein lies your answer!

Oh, and as an adendum...all what I've just said compared with just doing the seatbelt?...hmmm....think I'd go for the seatbelt option!!

Anything for an easy life!  :y

Cant remember the location, but a few weeks ago a very long thread about the poor fitment of a child seat led me to query the retro-fitment of an ISOfix. Omegas did have them as an option. Presumably there are lovely holes waiting in the bodyshell for you....presumably!

As far as I can tell, on principle, it would be do-able to retro-fit it. No doubt there would be various scary issues like 'ahh, what if you dont do it right!?' 'No no no, cant be done' 'Factory-fit only' 'you'll kill everyone!' etc...But if you ordered ISOfix on your brand-new Insignia, say, and it arrived and they forgot to fit it I don't for a second imagine Vauxhall would ship the whole car back to the factory, tear out the whole rear trim, fit it, then ship it back to you. No. What would happen is the dealer would retro-fit it according to the exacting specifications they have in their very detailed 'haynes-esque' manuals. It happens when a car arrives scratched/dinged, they respray it, but just don't tell you.

Doing that on a week-old car, or an 8year old one should make no difference. The issues are if the ISOfix mounting holes are there, if you can get the 'kit' including correct bolts and if you trust yourself to do it!

If someone ripped a seatbelt, I imagine you'd have no worries getting a replacement, and fitting it to the car yourself. So I'm not sure how this differs.

Like I say, just be mindful of them three 'ifs' above, please don't go drilling your own holes into steel that may not be the correct thickness/strength to take it!

If it's do-able, it's do-able, if it isn't, it isnt!!  :)

Omega General Help / Re: VX Prices
« on: 30 June 2009, 01:08:07 »
If I ring up my dealer for prices and just ask 'whats that on trade club?' they tell me, no quibbles.

Doesn't your dealer do that? Odd.  :-?

Omega General Help / Re: 2.5TD Injection pump
« on: 30 June 2009, 00:44:10 »
Ahh. Is it a diesel Elite? There aren't many td elites about, so I'm assuming you've put a petrol pump into a diesel tank?

I wasn't aware they were the same pump.

Why dont dealers know anything?!!? I mean, honestly, it doesnt matter what the inquiry, I have to sit them down and patiently talk them through the simplest of tasks!

Got to be worth getting that dry. Be it towels/doors open/hairdryer...anyway you don't need me to tell you how to dry stuff!!

Soon as its dry you can start tracing the fault, etc. If no more water appears, then whoopee. But at present you could have already cured the problem, but you'll never know whilst that carpet remains damp.

Omega General Help / Re: HELP I NEED A AUTO SELECTOR SWITCH
« on: 28 June 2009, 19:30:19 »
Hey there,

I might be able to get you one, but as I've never stripped an auto gearbox apart, could you tell me in a little more detail what the selector switch is, please?I take it you take off the interior trim around the lever and its down there somewhere?

Ta!

Saw a post quite recently (if someone can find it, they're a better man than I!) someone got it cleaned/ regassed for 39.99, i think. So pretty reasonable.  :)

5759
Definitely. Not sure how much an engine transplant yould cost ya, but 800 smackers is just too much.

I can sympathise if you want to keep the car, nomatter the cost, etc.. But there are clearly better people out there.

5760
If I remember my Aerodynamics lectures correctly... an engine bay is a right sod of a thing to have in a car. Air blasts downward from the engine bay at all sorts of practicallly-unpredictable angles/speeds. The undertray will help smooth this plenty. They are fitted to help reduce front end lift.

Great, problem solved, I hear you cry! What I dont understand is why the some models get one, others don't. As an educated guess, I'd say the undertray doesnt really make much of a difference. BUT Vauxhall fitted one, didn't they? They didnt fit it for the hell of it.
