Title: Interior lights don't work
Post by: Jan Suhr on 09 November 2018, 16:53:01
I have some problem with my winter cars interior lights. They don't light up at all.

The door contacts work, the buzzer goes on when driver doors open if headlights or key is still in ignition.

I have checked the headlight switch and it works and when checking with Ohm-meter it is closed when interior lights are on ( pulling the knob)

Fuses are good, light bulbs are good.

Where should I look further?

Since all lamps are out, even the ones in the vanity mirrors, map lights, door lights, every damn lamp that should be on when a door is open don't work it must be some major feed problem.

Everything else in the way of lights are working.

Thanks

Yes I have checked the ones that are mentioned in the manual. If I remember correctly it was number 12 and 15. And those fuses are connected to other things that do work

Do they come on when you unlock the car?

No, they are dead in all possible ways.

Have you changed the radio and did they work before?

Yes the radio is changed and it was when I got it. I have changed to another one. I do have the original radio, a NCDC2013, I can hook it up and see if it will do any difference.

I tested with the NCDC 2013 connected but lights still out.

Have you checked fuse #7?

On my Omega fuse #7 is for the power windows. Earlier models had #7 for the interior lights

According to my manual it should be #12 and #15 and they are both good and other things that are on those circuits work.

I have also noticed that the daytime running lights don't work, the Scandinavian models have that and a special relay for that. But tha tis a whole different circuit and shouldn't be connected to interior lights.

When door is opened those light should (if everything OK) lit. Then after a while those lights go off. What "Brain" put them off? If then when door still open the head light button is pulled should those interior lights come on again? I cannot test as my Omega does not have battery now.

It's controlled by the Central Lock Unit/Alarm. 12 volt is feeding the lights from that unit. In my case I suspect that the feed is broken out from the unit.

I got them working now, it was the K154 relay that didn't work.

Since the rear cigarette lighter socket also didn't work I started to think if it could be related and a search here on the forum pointed out the K154 relay. It's not easy to reach under the dash.

Some parts of the Omega are extremely well thought out... Others smack of 'oh cock, where can we stuff all this'  ;D

Hi! After being in OZ for a couple of months, I now have the same problem as Jan. I disconnected the battery for the 2 months and on reconnecting I found that the interior lights do not work at all. That includes the boot light. All relevant fuses are ok. I have tried to find relays K143/K154. Where are they? Thanks in advance.  :y

The relay is stuck up under the dash behind the fuse panel, it is really tight pace and hard to reach. The relay in question is tall and light yellow.
