You do need Tech 1 to prog new I.R. remote but security code is not needed IIR. Early Vectra B with seperate key fob remote could be programmed without code too.

No, it won`t work. The CAN signals for the ignition supply are not present in the Omega, meaning that even if you can power the stereo up, it may shut down every 60 minutes or so, and I think the correct CAN speed pulse signal is also missing, which would make a Navigation system completely pointless.

 :'(

Just remembered the ignition logic can be switched off in the head unit so it will not need the ignition on CAN signal. Wondering where MID gets information for trip computer. The stereo would get all its info through the CIM on a Vectra from steering wheel control to speed. As Omega's don't have one it's probably not possible as you say.

Thanks for the info lads. That has rained on my parade a bit but saves a lot of trial & error. Was hoping some mad electrial genius had invented an adapter from wiring of omega which included an interface pretending to be a CAN system. ::)

Will the CID work with older original Omega Sat Nav unit by any chance?

Is it possible to install CD70 Sat nav & colour info display from a 08 Vectra into 01 facelift Omega. Units will be put into delivery mode before removal from Vectra but is there a way of interfacing non can bus car to can bus head unit?

James.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: orange light

I think that's the front brake pad wear indicator light. Could be worn pads or broken wire to pad wear sensor. Almost impossible to change pads without breaking the sensors iir.

Have not seen this on Omega yet but have encountered broken wires in loom going to rear doors on Zafira and Astra. Caused by repeated opening & closing on pass rear door where child seat usually is. Insulation gets brittle and cracks causing wires to short. Can cause all sort of weird things to happen. Would unplug door and have a look just to rule it out at any rate.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Sunroof Gremlin
« on: 08 January 2011, 16:11:36 »
My sunroof has developed a mind of its own. It opens itself a fraction on tilt and then closes itself. It could do it 3 times in a row and then not do it again for days. I have reset the pinch guard on the motor but it didn't help. I think a fault in the switch is the problem. Is there any cure for this other than a new motor/switch assy.

If its the problem I had the door lock needs to be replaced. When you lift the driver door handle before the door is unlocked the lever on the lock does not return to its original position. It's either rusted or a weak return spring. This prevents unlocking. If you lift the door handle and there is no resistance this is the case. If you are lucky just bang on the outside of the door with an open hand and the lock should return to unlockable position. It may take a while but better than forcing door card.

If you cannot remove head unit would disconnection the battery for the same amount of time work instead? You would have to reset time & window pinch guards etc.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: ECC Temp sensors
« on: 16 December 2010, 11:40:22 »
The interior temp senor is in the middle of the control panel for the ECC (the hole in the middle of it). There is a little fan in there that sucks in air to give correct temp. The sensors behind the vents are for the temp of air leaving the vents only.

Omega General Help / Re: Slow wipers

Judder would be down to worn wiper blades. Probably a good idea to get a replacement motor to have on stand by too.

Omega General Help / Re: MOT failed on emissions
« on: 13 July 2011, 12:50:47 »
My 01 3.2 failed emissions on lambda & CO due to failed seal at rear silencer leaking. Definitely worth getting exhaust right before looking @ CAT.

There was a tech bulletin on this but, its not an issue I have ever seen.

The drains either side of the transmission tunnel are condensate drains so it would be interesting to know if anything is running from them when the aircon is operating,

I have seen this on one occasion. By taking out the glove box you will see the leak from the side of the heater / ac unit. There is a removable piece there that you need to remove & reseal if memory serves.

Omega General Help / Re: Rear Blind
« on: 18 May 2011, 11:11:46 »
The blind on my one does the same thing. It is the motor. Fitted a replacement motor and it worked fine. Problem is it did the same thing again 2 years later. I use the blind so infrequently the motor seizes up. I found though if you give the motor a couple of taps when the switch is pressed it will work again for a while. Had to take out the parcel shelf to get at it though. Reckon if it is used regularly this won't happen. Is there a way of cleaning the motor to prevent if from seizing up as quickly?
