" The Spanish traffic department has revealed that last year across Spain, almost six thousand drivers who were involved in fatal accidents did not have a driving licence. 2,610 of these drove cars, 152 drove trucks, 18 drove buses, 308 were at the wheel of vans and the remainder were driving motorcycles or mobylettes".

I wonder how many don't have insurance? How many didn't have licences that were involved in non fatal accidents?

I wonder what the statistic is in the UK?!!

Alright then, after my really useful earlier post I will try to make amends. We have one of the lowest road death per head of population figures in Europe. Don't know how many are caused by unlicensed drivers but there are some statistics here.

Oh, its just a piece of paper that says you can drive, nothing much, a lot of the younger generation dont have one.

That's right. They're not allowed to drive without one, and when they get caught driving without one, they get a ban. Which means they're not allowed to drive even if they could be bothered to get a license. As if that makes any difference?  ::)

I obviously don't agree with driving with no insurance, but, when I was 18 I had my first 2.8i Capri and couldn't afford the insurance so had it on my mum's :y
When I finally got my own insurance (on a 2.8i special) it was £1350 third party fire and theft I kid you not :'(
I have seen them in the local paper, people who have been caught with no insurance, £200 fine >:(
