Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Drivers door control unit
« on: 19 September 2022, 20:54:00 »
Hi everybody
I have a 2003 2.2 C.D Auto and am seeking a replacement drivers door control unit. Its only the switch for the drivers front window that sometimes doesn't work but I can't be arsed opening it up and poking around I'd rather just replace the whole unit quickly.

Thanks in advance  :y

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Dashboard gauges
« on: 20 March 2022, 07:15:29 »
Hi guys I need your help once again please.
The left hand side of my instrument cluster was not lighting up due to blown bulbs.
I replaced all 4 bulbs and reattached the plug, however when I switched the lights on to check all was fine before reassembling everything the situation was the exact same  :-\....the left hand side was still dark.
I checked all 4 of the new bulbs which were fine and once again reattached the plug.
This time though when I switched the lights on, all of the instument panel was dark and also all 4 of the gauges have stopped working.
The trip computer and stereo both still illuminate and work.
I still have interior lights including inside the glove box.
My omega is a 2003 2.2 cd auto.
Any help will be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance  :y

Omega General Help / Heater motor
« on: 21 October 2021, 14:52:40 »
Hi guys hope your all well.

My heater has started to make a very loud buzzing noise when you put it on half to full power.
I removed the pollen filter and could not see or feel anything stuck or wedged anywhere.
I could feel the air flow was still nice and strong as I dangled a piece of paper down there and could feel it trying to suck it inwards.
The noise is coming from behind that part of the Skuttle so is there some type of motor there somewhere that is slowly dying maybe?
If so how difficult is it to replace.
I don't think there is a guide in the maintenance section covering it

Thanks in advance as usual  :y

Omega General Help / Failed Jump start
« on: 06 October 2021, 16:08:28 »
Hi everybody I hope your all well and good.
My 03 plate 2.2 cd auto has been sitting idle for about 3 months (don't ask......my life's a mess at the moment  :-\ ) so obviously the battery has gone flat.
Today I attempted to jump start it but no joy.

Once I attached the jump leads I left them on with the other cars engine running for a good ten minutes before attempting to start my omega.
As soon as I attached the leads my dashboard lights came on as expected, however once ten minutes had passed and I tried to start it I heard a click and the dashboard died and it didn't attempt to start at all just completely dead.

I left it charging for another 5 minutes but still no lights or life at all.

I then detached the jump leads from my battery and immediately put them back on again and that made all the lights and stereo come on again.
I left it charging for another 5 minutes including me revving the other cars engine and the exact same thing happened again when I tried to start it.

Removed the jump leads and put them back on the same as before and once again the lights and stereo came on and then died when I tried to start it.

This happened a couple of more time before not even removing the leads could get any life into it and now it's dead completely  :'(

I checked the fuses under the steering column and none have blown and also what is important to point out is the both the battery and alternator are brand new. They were both replaced a couple of months before I parked the car up for the last time with no issues whatsoever.

Help please!!!

Omega General Help / Drivers door jammed
« on: 23 October 2020, 10:56:58 »
I've just replaced the drivers door lock mechanism and solenoid as previous one had failed and now the door is closed and will not open from the inside or outside.
When i first replaced it and closed the door it would open from the inside only so its definitely something to do with the handle. Now it wont open at all.
Is there anybody remotely near south london who could fix this for me. I dont mind a drive up the motorway somewhere.
Just had new pads and discs, rear exhaust in January, new bosch battery,  brand new alternator, and literally this week had a new water pump and timing belt kit done. Only done 75000 so a shame to scrap it but Ive lost all patience with it. 2003 2.2 cd auto

Omega General Help / Pollen filter/ Wet footwell
« on: 23 March 2019, 10:03:00 »
Hi guys

2 things I need helping with please, first one is straightforward so I'll start with that if I may.
When your inserting the pollen filter what way should the arrows be pointing? Upwards or downwards.
I have put the new filter in with the arrows pointing up, but the reason why I'm not 100% sure is because with the arrows pointing upwards all of the writing/logo etc on the side of the filter is upside down ?

Secondly my passenger's side rear footwell is soaking wet. I have checked both scuttle drains and they are both bone dry and not blocked.
I dont have a sunroof and can't feel any other part of the interior that is wet?
Any help appreciated lads thank you  :y

Omega General Help / Removing foam from scuttle
« on: 19 August 2018, 16:12:59 »
Hi there.

I recently had the fairly common problem of finding the spark plug wells full of water on my 2.2 facelift due to rain ingress.
I've sorted that out easy enough and treated the mig to new plugs and a new coil pack.

What I need help with is just some clarification on what action to take to stop the ingress from happening in the first place.
I know there is an excellent guide on here which advises to remove the foam from under the scuttle drain and put some sealent under there somewhere  but I noticed that was done on a V6 engine bay.
Is it the same on a 2.2?
I'm going to seal up the holes around the windscreen wipers as lots of oofers are pretty adamant this helps stop the water from dripping into the engine bay.
The large grey coloured padding that sits underneath the scuttle though, should I still remove this as I'm a bit worried about what I'll be exposing if I take it off.
I mean it must have been put on there to help protect something right?
Also do I need to put sealent somewhere to help redirect the water down the hole where it's supposed to go or is sealing the wiper arm holes and removing the padding enough?

Thanks for any help

Hi guys.
The ignition barrel on my 2.2 cd auto seized up completely after a week or so of just being very stiff.
I was tempted to try and repair it but decided to buy a brand new one from vauxhall as it was only £87 all in.

I removed the old one easily enough by pressing a 3 ml Allen key into the release hole but have now broken the replacement barrel.

When I was pushing the barrel into the ignition it just kept pushing itself back out. I couldn't get it to click in.
It would just pop out and the steering lock would pop on in an identical way to when I popped the old barrel out.

After about 6 attempts at pushing the new barrel in i noticed when I looked at it the little spring loaded flap on the barrel had snapped in half and the tiny spring inside was protruding.
So now I have to buy another one from vauxhall but before I do can anybody educate me as to what I was doing wrong?

I had to turn the key in the new barrel one turn to get it to slide in and once it was in it would let me turn it to position 2 so the dash lights would come on but wouldn't turn again to let me start the engine.

As soon as I released pressure it just popped back out and " ping " steering lock clicks back in which I kept having to release by pushing down on the little metal lever inside the ignition  :(

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / 2.2 Stereo
« on: 19 November 2017, 18:50:26 »
Hi guys.
I need a new standard stereo for a 53 plate 2.2 cd auto.
Ideally one still in good condition cosmetically and also if anybody has the 2 prongs for removing the old one that would be great.

I don't know if replacement stereos are just plug and play or if I need a code?

Thanks a lot

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Battery Opinions Please!!
« on: 07 April 2011, 13:29:56 »
Hi guy's.

I'm in the process of sourcing a new battery and would really value the opinions of a more experienced oofer than myself.

After being scared off by the prices at Halfords I have been searching the internet for a good deal.

I have found the following battery for £50.00 all in, which also comes with a 4 year guarantee.
It just seems to good to be true that's all.

The next cheapest one's I can find are from Euro car parts which start at £62.34, so the £50.00 one is obviously very appealing.

The CCA on my current battery is 600 and on this one it is only 570.
I'm assuming such a small differance will be fine.....am I wrong?

My car is a 2001 2.2 CD Auto petrol.

Any opinions are greatly recieved as always.
I won't buy this one or any other one untill I've recieved some advice as I don't want to waste my hard earned money.

Thanks a Million  :y :y :y

Hi everyone.
I'm new to the O.O.F and this is the first post i've put up so I hope i'm doing everything right.
I really need as much advice as possible from all you experienced omega owners on a 2.2 cd auto i'm thinking about buying.
It's on an 02 plate, has 72000 mls on the clock and bodywork and interior both in excellent condition.
Also taxed and tested.
The problem is it's being sold as spares or repair as all of the electrics have died making the car a non runner.
The seller said it may be the E.C.U but he does not know for sure, he said the car was perfect and then all of a sudden it just died on him right out of the blue.
This of course is reflected in the asking price and because of the low miles and excellent condition its a real tempter!!!
I was just wondering if it was the E.C.U how much is that going to cost all in to sort out, and also is there a chance it could be something a lot worse and a lot more expensive.
All comments are very gratefully recieved.

Thanks in advance
FUDGEE
