Car 300 advice
« on: 31 July 2006, 16:52:47 »

Hi Guy's

This is proberbly the dumbest question youve been asked, but how would I remove my radio/cas car 300 out of the dash, if I dont have the special tool, if required. :-/

Also since I have had the car (a long time) the buttons on the steering wheel have never worked, I am pretty sure the car orinonally had a car 500 which was prob' swapped when the car left the fleet owner. What would be the likely cause of this?

The garage that sold me the car reckoned the Car 300 doesnt have this facility, were they just fobbing me off?

Cheers any advice would be appriciated.

Quite possible that CAR300 never had steering wheel controls. Never seen CAR300 in Omega, CAR400 is worse I've seen standard fit.

The removal keys are dirst cheap. If necessary, 4 nails also works, but much easier with keys....

An allen key may be required to move grub screws that block the holes where keys go.

standard keys :)

I assume CAR300 has the normal ISO connectors at back, in which case CAR400/CDR500/CCR600 all plug and play.

(no such thing as car500 as far as I'm aware, CDR500 is the single CD unit)

Can't remember if its the radio of the display that needs adjusting if configured for wrong number of characters...

Sorry your right :-[

I ment CDR 500, as I mentioned think it was swapped so hopefully the connections are there.

I'll have a look.

Should get a few bob for my car 300, if it's that rare  ;D

Thanks Again

Hi, got the keys pulled out the unit and on the back there appears to be about 4 spare spaces on the car 300 plug connector.

i.e. spaces were there should be connectors, but empty, could this be were the remote control would be if it were a CDR 500?

Thinking of getting one they seem to be going for about £80 on flebay is that reasonable or can I get one a bit cheaper?

Thanks again

I think you can get brand new CDR500 for around £120 (may have been special offer at my dealer), so I would expect easily to get CDR500 from ebay for £50.

Thanks again

Been keeping an eye on a few, they are going up to £80 + £10 postage. :(

would consider a new one if I knew how long I was keeping the motor, but not sure, still looking for a younger replacement.

could still have it this time next year the way it's going.

Try emailing one of teh guys breaking a car on ebya, or even try Issunaz....or Markiec....see if they have one going spare (I am pretty sure the one Issunaz had used supported steering wheel controls).

Hi

So would a 400 not work with the steering controls?

CAR400 works with steering wheel, as does CAR600 - both have cassette, not CD though (CAR600 can run a autochanger)
