I can't help thinking that if you stub your toe on that it's gonna smart a bit more than it does with a normal wooden coffee table.

However, if you're going do it properly ring around a few plating places - chrome plating isn't that expensive, and they'll have to thoroughly clean and chemically dip the block first to do that saving you all the aggro of cleaning it up.

Con rods bolted into head bolt holes looks like the way to go. Pistons mounted to rods with normal gudgeon/wrist pins, and then all you've got to sort out is fixing the glass top to the piston crowns.

I should imagine the removal men would be a bit put out if you ever moved house as well. ;D

Errrr...no. If it's being properly chromed then it will be properly dipped. You can't get rid of enough crap to get a decent finish any other way.

Got the wire wheel out today  ::)

Did that, hit it with a load of brake cleaner, got the blow gun and got rid of the spiders, then wire wheeled it again. Very pleased with the results but there are quite a few patches the wheel couldnt get to.

The plan now is to break out the due grinder with a light sanding bit in to all the nooks n crannies.

I then think I'll smash it with the rust removal liquid.

Then just keep going til it's clean.

Can you liberate the spin on conversion before painting :-*

Best not get the apprentice to do it though... he doesn't look particularly enamoured with his lot in that picture ;)

Al I had the same thought myself. I assume you mean the threaded portion that the filter screws on to? I blindly stuck an Allen in there but it didn't catch. I'll get a torch in there n see what's what
