Clean wheels
« on: 28 March 2017, 10:22:35 »

In the time I've owned my omega I've cleaned it thoroughly but always seem to have struggled cleaning the inside of the wheels, even useing acid I've found both underbody way and some brake dust remained even with the wheels off the car.

Thankfully yesterday a mate re-aquanted me with wonder wheels and it's stripped all the brake dust and by the look of it underbody wax off the wheels leaving an almost factory fresh😊

Just a word of warning regarding Wonder Wheels. It does get tar etc off but if you have the slightest bit of lacquer damage it will get under it and lift it. I found out the hard way.  ::)
Also, it dulled the finish on my shiny lacquered calipers.  >:(

Wonder wheels is basically an acid and would never use it on my car, there are quite a few products out there that are ph neutral which will be a lot kinder to your wheels  :y

I use very cherry which is every bit as good but isn't acidic.

It's very powerful stuff, used only I think when they are seriously bad.

I use Trolls Breath, which is pH neutral and I've yet to see anything on my wheels it won't shift.

Smells bloody foul though.

Like the putrid breath of a stunted troll, perhaps. ::) ::)

Thanks for the heads up regarding possible damage, wonder wheels has an awful smell but I'm hoping auto glym and a good wash is all they will need now.
Do I take it the other brands mentioned are easy to find in Halfords or on line ?

Always treat mine to Turtles brake dust barrier once wheels are clean. Makes next wash very easy but have to remember to then re apply

The Trolls Breath isn't something I've ever seen for sale on the high street. That said, very easy to find online, either on various detailing websites or via their ebay store or amazon. It was £25 ish for a gallon I think. Which,  although expensive has lasted me the thick end of a year (2 cars) and I'm only about half way down it.
