Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Minor niggle on CCR2006
« on: 14 January 2010, 15:26:58 »
Bought a secondhand unit and everything works on it except.....random CD play doesn't work. Also whenever I turn the ignition back on the radio set station does not always come back up, it says 87. etc.
Ok little anoyances but is there a fix, reset I can do or even repair, if it's worth it ::)

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Replacing drivers seat
« on: 12 November 2009, 13:25:34 »
Ok put this in electrical as I need to know about the electric side of things on the drivers seat.
I need to replace the drivers seat on my 03 plate 2.2 CD. Would there be any issues with the airbag in the seat if I disconnect the electrics, or for that matter anthing else in there. Read on here that it's best to disconnect the battery to stop the airbag warning light coming on, then have to reset it.
I take it disconnecting the battery I will only have to put the code back into the radio when reconnecting, is that all?

Cheers

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Cruise on 2.2
« on: 30 October 2009, 12:19:33 »
Been reading various threads on cruise control stalks but not really got an answer.
What do I need to get CC on a 03 plate 2.2 petrol engined Omega.
When I added it to my TD if was just a case of getting the correct stalk and swopping it over, and away I went.
Is it that easy on the petrol 2.2 or will I have to have it enabled etc.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Replacing power sounder
« on: 10 September 2009, 11:50:13 »
Going to replace the power sounder soon on the Facelift TD. Have read the "how to" on this so seems pretty straightforward.
Mine keeps going off at intervals and there isn't sound coming out of it when it does go off. (as read in another thread best replace because of insurance issues)
Before I go ahead anyone got a part number I should have to order one and roughly how much should it be? Also is it just a case of removing and refitting the new one or does it need to be enabled with the rest of the cars electrics etc.?....sorry I'm not that clued up on anything electrical especially cars.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Battery charging
« on: 06 January 2009, 14:27:32 »
I think I will give the battery a charge soon, the car doesn't get used during the week so battery must need a top up.
It's been said on here that disconnecting the battery is the best thing to do when charging.....question is when I reconnect the battery will the radio ask for it's code again or for that matter will anything else want resetting.
It's a facelift TD

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CD Changer
« on: 08 October 2008, 15:29:35 »
Really miss the CD changer I had in my last car (not Omega)
Can I add one of these to my CDR 2005 in my facelift http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-sony-ctaops003-cdx-t69_p-22512.htm or do I need to change the whole unit for the factory fit one, that's the one with CD changer is it CDR 2006.
Or can anyone recommend a head unit to replace for a multiple CD unit.
Not got mega bucks to spend though.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Alarm just goes off!
« on: 29 June 2008, 21:55:36 »
Omega TD estate has been sat on the drive since Friday, not used it at all. Sitting watching the footie when off goes the alarm. Now all that happened was the horn gave off three blasts then just the indicators carried on flashing. Is it trying to tell me something or is it to be ignored, never happened before.  No obvious attempt at a break in, in anycase it's right under the lounge window so I would have seen that.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Foglight wiring 12N plug
« on: 09 September 2007, 17:47:58 »
Had a look Omega estate towbar wiring this weekend. When I connect up to the caravan I have no fog lights  (on the caravan).  Found the cause the pin 2 (blue wire) is not connected to the cars wiring loom. Now this was obviously not connected for some reason or just overlooked by the fitters.
As this is a legal requirement, and I may need to use the fog lights some time whilst towing I need to get them connected.
I've identified which cable is the fog on the cars wiring loom (black/green) is it just a case of connecting into this or will I need a relay or something to cancel the cars fogs when connected. Anyone done this on their Omega.
This wiring was done before I took ownership of the car, so I can't take it back to have it done.

Omega General Help / 2.2 temp gauge
« on: 23 March 2011, 20:03:58 »
Problems with the temp gauge not working at all.
It's an '03' plate 2.2 petrol.
Coincidence, or something they did when it stopped working when the middle section of the exhaust was replaced.
Could it be fuse or a wire disturbed, it's been back to the exhaust fitters, they say they haven't disturbed anything.
Gauge was working ok before in went in for the exhaust......Any ideas?

Not my car just asking for a mate :y

Omega General Help / Door striker plates
« on: 12 August 2010, 17:52:47 »
Simple question.

The door striker plates on 'B' pillar, can these be removed and turned around?

Reason is, mine is worn on the drivers side and no amount of adjustment stops the door creaking. There's no play in the hinge pins, I've given the door a good old jiggle about. Don't want to remove the plate to find I've lost the fixing in the pillar, do these stay in place but floating I guess :y

Omega General Help / Auto fluid
« on: 21 May 2010, 17:29:42 »
I checked the auto fluid in the 2.2 yesterday, I think it needs a top up.
Without me trawling down to the dealers for some GM stuff can I buy some from say Halfords or motor shop that's compatible.......is it Dex-3, can't seem to find that on Halfords website.
Car's up for sale but I want it tip top for any prospective buyer, so will top up the box :y

Omega General Help / Air shocks
« on: 30 April 2010, 20:40:54 »
Would these be easy to fit, to replace the standard shocks on my TD estate.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220323955284&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

And should they keep the rear pretty much level when I have the caravan attached.

Are they a good price? they look like Monroe

Omega General Help / Brake pad clips
« on: 27 March 2010, 17:56:16 »
Are the brake pad spring clips (rear) available as a separate item from the dealer?

Mine have had it, pads and discs are good condition so no need to change them just the clips :y

Omega General Help / Removing sills?
« on: 05 April 2010, 15:48:30 »
Can see the fastenings under the sill, is this all that holds them?
Can the rubber strips above the sill (the strip the door seals onto) be removed easily, and how?

Facelift estate BTW

Mick ;)
