Vectra V6 Bosch plug leads - do they fit Omega V6?
« on: 23 August 2006, 22:26:39 »

The connectors will be the same, since both the plugs and DIS are the same on both cars. But I'm betting the leads are too short for the Omega. I know Magnecor list the same part for both Vectra and Omega V6, but most likely their leads are a little too long for the Vectra but still work fine. Bosch don't list anything for the Omega V6.

I want to replace my leads but I'm not paying £100+ for them, and the cheaper ones common on eBay are a bit of an unknown economy, not sure if they'll last. Bosch are good quality, but obviously no good if they don't fit!

Anyone know for sure?

Do you have a Part Number for the Bosch leads?

Don't think autovaux are much cheaper unfortunately.

Bosch Vectra 2.5 V6 (1995-2000) part number is B 162.

Magnecor part number is 6049 (8mm leads) for both Vectra V6 and Omega 2.5/3.0 V6

Funny, that...

You can download the English version of the Bosch catalogue from:

http://aa.bosch.de/aa/en/kfz-teile/produktfinder/media/Zuendleitungen_en.pdf

And indeed, Vauxhall Omega B is only showing as 2.0i. But if look under Opel Omega B, you will see this:

So it's B 143 then - hope this helps....

(and just in case anyone was wondering why the 2.6/3.2 are not listed, this is because these engines have individual coil packs and hence no HT leads)

I bought some aftermarket ones from my local motor factor for £27 - they worked ok - some aftermarket ones are very soft and are hard to push onto the plugs - but i thought these were the nearest to VM ones. the only problem is they are not marked up with cylinder No's - so best to do this first as they are all indevidual leads.

Pretty sure he only does the magnecors, which are megabucks even at the discounted rate.

What the heck... I bought the Vectra leads, were going cheap so worth a look. If they don't fit I'll just flog 'em on, they're brand new of course so will be easy enough to sell.

Before I strip half the engine as is necessary to change leads on these ::) can anyone measure a set of OEM Omega leads to find out how long each one is between the plug end and the DIS end. I expect some of you guys have old sets lying around.

If it works out these do fit, it'll be a cheaper option for a set of leads that are at least as good as rip-off VX parts IMO.

Cheers.

Here we go, I've made the measurements if anyone wants to compare.

Measurement A for all leads is 40mm, measurement B for all leads is 30mm. The visible cable lengths (measurement B) are as follows:

1. 740mm
2. 645mm
3. 560mm
4. 455mm
5. 340mm
6. 340mm

If anyone could compare these with Omega V6 parts that would be ace.
